This story starts anywhere you like in the life of the average Muslim Terrorist.  Disenfranchisement with the West under the tutelage of Al Qaeda operatives everywhere, Mohammed Merah, a French citizen of Algerian origin, eventually made his way to the lands that historically have been full of pointless murder in celebration of everything that is anti-Western.

It is not clear, just yet, the scope of Merah’s travels in the ancient lands, but eventually his association with Terrorist elements in Afghanistan resulted in his arrest and imprisonment.  Sometime in 2008, Merah became one of those freed from prison in a Taliban-orchestrated raid.  Sympathetic elements in Afghanistan provided Merah with faked identification papers which enabled his escape.

In U.S. and British newspapers and television, Merah was reportedly detained by U.S. NATO forces and was offered to the French for disposition; he being a French citizen of course.  The French, benevolent as they can be to any fatal fault through their own murderous, colonial history, set Merah upon a commercial aircraft destined for France.  

The French deny this of course.  At first they claimed he was released by the Americans and at that early moment in this standoff, represented Merah as an Afghan who had travelled to France.  This may be relevant in so many ways considering that the fake identification papers so stated this as fact.  Eventually, the truth it seems was told and now we know him as a 24 year old French-Algerian Al Qaeda-trained who was released into France, by the French without charge.  However, Mr. Merah in fact has a French police record of some sort which will become the focus of reporters and officials everywhere; except in the United States.

Britain’s BBC is camped out in Toulouse, awaiting the eventual action that will surely result in the arrest or killing of Mr. Merah.  They have reported several follow-ups, the two-plus-two of investigative reporting and police work you see and one of them came from the local Yamaha motorcycle dealer where the terrorist was discovered to have a criminal police record, but nothing to prevent him from purchasing a motorcycle.

That same report mentioned Merah’s curiosity regarding the ease of disassembly such that he could re-paint the bike, and that seemed to have been the ‘lucky break’ necessary to focus upon him.  That was in addition to other remarks by the dealer that Merah had asked about the removal of the GPS device that is now found in every new vehicle.

French police and anti-terrorist persons have cordoned off the neighborhood and attempted to burst through the apartment door when Merah shot through, killing two policemen.  Since then, police have shut off the gas and have been busy evacuating people from the area.  It is safe to assume that the raid will come after nightfall, at present police are busy engaging Merah in the sleep-deprivation stage of negotiations.

Without constraints, nearby residents have been interviewed by BBC reporters.   One man regaling an encounter with the man by his daughter, on the motorcycle, lifting his visor to reveal a facial scar; yet another identifying characteristic, and some lurid gaze which frightened the girl.  Another claimed he was a strange person.

Police have broken into Merah’s automobile, discovering hand grenades, ammunition and firearms all of which are controlled items, difficult to accumulate everywhere in Europe, where gun laws prohibit them flat out.  Impossible for everyone to acquire, unless you are a well-financed terrorist, and more so if you were financed by cash smuggled in and around terrorist circles.  There is no self-defense rationale in Europe.  

At 3:49PM, he remains holed-up in his apartment, well-armed and intent on killing others until the end.  Likely, that will be the death of him.  Already, most of what he is rumored to have said is likely to become an embarrassment for Sarkozy; like Obama in full-campaign mode, and the French police including the military, secret police and Interpol.  Merah admitted to killing the soldiers in France, reported as ho-hum by everyone except that the murder victims were all military.

The recent last straw was the senseless murder of French citizens, at least one of them a girl video recorded by Merah as he strangled her and fumbled for his other handgun.  His 9mm pistol had jammed and he switched to his .45 while shouting anti-Semitic epithets at the girl.  Her crime?  She was Jewish, as were the other people killed that afternoon last week.

Most of this is quite unfair, for certainly Mohammed is a murderer and hardly an Al Qaeda operative.  It is more likely that he and most like him around the world are just bloodthirsty killers using Islam as the means of rationale under which they do the dirty work against all infidels.

Right, if you believe that, you certainly deserve to be horrified when next they terrorize.  In the meantime, you can be sickened as Mr. Sarkozy presides in eulogy over the three French Jews that were murdered, declaring that the Terrorist was targeting French military.

Really?  I know Joe Biden thinks we are stupid, but there is a point at which even the stupid look like Einstein compared to the blowhard French President.
