GOOD NEWS SUNDAY: IT IS MY BIRTHDAY. ..MUSINGS...

Rate: 32 Flag

 ROBERT FROST, AMERICAN POET:

arf

In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life — It goes on

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good news—or as they call it in religious terminology, ‘gospel’, is what is on the agenda today. Dammit. I mean it. Sick of bad news,like OS going down.
Good news Sunday...?
Well, the best news is that it is my birthday and people are pouring in to wish me a good day. People from everywhere, even other continents & time zones. Weird but wonderful....
...........................
Gotta admit, it started off oddly. Robert Frost, my bald 50ih housemate, pounded on my door at 6 am for cigarettes and the proverbial shoulder to cry on. Poor f-er was drunk or high, full of self-lament. He is to be evicted, for nonpayment of rent.
"Jimmy, ah gonna miss this kitchen. This kitchen? Gonna be a mess when i go...I gotta go i guess...gonna miss the 'man upstairs' ..what am i gonna do when i need cigarettes?huh.."
"You do indeed keep a clean kitchen, Rob," i said, hiding behind my half open door..
I chose to ignore his messed up state.Why intervene? Hard to talk to an irrational junky guy, even if he is superb at cleaning the kitchen, and stocking it with bread from the soup kitchen.
 Earlier, he had disturbed the lion, Sarge, my upstairs neighbor, with his foolishness.
For that you get ‘blood on the floor, yessir’ as the old Georgia boy vet says. Best not to disturb Sarge when he just gets up. Or any other time, really…
Sarge would love nothing more than to see this guy gone. Me?  I am ambivalent, mostly because it is cool to look at the house mailbox and see, written , one name under the other, “Rober t Frost/james  emmerling”. Did not the real Frost say,
Home is the place where, when you have to go there,
They have to take you in…”? ("The Death of the Hired Man).
And:more apropos regarding his namesake:
I shall set forth for somewhere,
I shall make the reckless choice
Some day when they are in voice
And tossing so as to scare
The white clouds over them on.
I shall have less to say,
But I shall be gone.
§  "The Sound of the Trees
ha. that is my r. frost's fate i guess.
……………………………………
“Hi sarge, good morning ,sir”
“Hi Jim..how are you?” a bald excrutiatingly pale skinned,bespectacled victim of PTSD, COPD, a spine injury, the handyman , the "hired man" of the property...
“Very well, sir. Ah, and our neighbor, mr. Frost?”
“Than sunnoffa #$%^& is goin out on his ass, and that is for sure, and man,” sweet Southern drawl, “I say, sooner the better.’’
‘Well I always thought he was a good guy,’ I said with utter ambivalence.
Sarge did one of his dramatic pauses, and with a big lovely sharklike smile, said, “jim,he may be good, he may be bad, but he bugs the shit out of me. And not only me..the Big Lady too.”
The landlord’ s daughter! A tough gal indeed. I schmooze an elicit love from her as I pass the cash every week. There are usually sober girls hanging around her office, in the sober house next door.
She is big Mama.
If Big Mama don’t like him no more, I pity the guy…
Always, always, keep relations good with Big Mama, is one of my mottos for life
…………………………
Good news?
Gonna go on a walk with sister L and Georgie Puppy later. After L and I visit the Verizon place, where she has to replace her defunct cell phone.Seems she went for a 10 mile jog and stored it in her running bra. It was exposed to moisture, and called it quits. She needs a more modern phone anyway. I hope to help the salespeople talk her into something that she might enjoy. Not too modern, but at least one where you can text properly. Her texts are like from a Romanian orphan being taught English by a Russian schoolmaster.
Example “birthday happy see you soon will have plans? Running now down. Meet you at have a good day”
L & New Guy:
…………………………………………
Good news? I am gonna watch some tv now, the news. Sunday morning is a good time to catch all the savvy old journalists shooting the real shit. Ah, Chris Matthews on NBC.
A lot of old talking head friends. “A perfectionist drive for unity,” is what a writer says of our poor President.
“He represents opposite forces..his essence involves that…looking for peace and harmony”
“Can he keep his own sense of self in the Washington crisis?”
“A completely different set of survival skills than Clinton,” author of Clinton book says.
Oh such interesting psychological/political analysis.
…………………………
CNN………..Egypt election results soon. I see thousands of people in the square, behind the newslady’s fantastically flapping hair. Much drama. Just like here in America, the Land of the Free. Like when we queued up on the tv screen to see the Queen’s Jubilee, and realize how tiny that queen of ours is, and how lovely Kate was in pink.
Fox news: “this will change the future of the world..islamist state in Egypt…russian president gonna meet with Israeli head guy…netanyahoo….ann Romney has a disease, and is gonna spill it. “ She is kinda sweet. Hard not to like these Romneys as people, but easy to hate them in their ideas.
……………………………..
Georgie puppy just called.
arf3
“Uncle, am I gonna see you today?”
“You bet. Back from vacation, hm, kiddo? You gotta fill me in on the good stuff..”
“What good stuff? “
“the fun, man!”
“I spent like all of it in a crate, Uncle! Lots of bones though. And peanut butter, how Momma puts it in my toy. And there was the nights..weird…not normal..”
“what do you mean?”
“Momma gave me melatonin! When I had to sleep with New Guy and momma. So I wouldn’t get all nervous and confused and have to get up and pee. “
“Melatonin is harmless. Actually beneficial. It is natural”
“Yeah? Well, I am not so sure it is good for puppies. Makes them sluggish. Couldn’t even move much in the morning..anyway…what are you doing now? OS?”
“Yes, and the news.”
“Ok, tell everyone I am ok. Home. God, home is my favorite place.. Cape cod was ok, but..well, no place like home.”
“Ok,man. We will catch up soon. Hey, this Egypt election thing is very interesting. Gotta go. Bye.”
“ok. “
Georgie is like a son to me. He needs me. It is nice to be needed, even by a crazy precocious puppy.
Now no joy but lacks salt,
That is not dashed with pain
And weariness and fault;
I crave the stain
Of tears, the aftermark
Of almost too much love,
The sweet of bitter bark
And burning clove.
Sounds to me as if you have the day under control, Jim. May it remain so as you celebrate another year closer to...Oh, we do not want to go there. Eat cake!
The good news is that the Muslim Brotherhood won Egypt's presidential election, the bad news is the Muslim Brotherhood won Egypt's presidential election... 'ave a 'appy B'day!
Peace and harmony to you today, James. Happy Birthday!
I and my sisters wish you a happy birthday, Jim. See you in the movies!
DAISY: Georgie has a long way to go. Luckily he will be well-
schooled in 'the classics', my version of them. thank u for b-day wishes.
VIC: you successful cali gal, thank you so much...
CHICKEN: a cake with a girl in it would well please me.
Perhaps a tiny one, like keira knightley?
i admire her work. Like in "atonement"
BRIANNE: ha, 'smashing' will be somehow accessed. i have preliminary plans.
JMAC: a 'brotherhood' sounds cool. Is it?
JL: harmony is what is sought. A good relationship to the gods and goddesses. And the God. Whatever they tell me I gotta do to have some fun, I shall listen…
MARY BETH…there might be explicit scenes. With female , uh, daring. Sheets will cover a lot. But are u ready?
I will teach you, my dear.
You are the master of imaginary and real dialogue. What a ride. Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, James. What a great day!
Hello James, Happy birthday Little Brother!
You and I have seen some times here on OS, I hope your birthday treats you well and one of the bad girls across the street comes over
and gives you a big kiss.
Is that really a picture of Georgie swimming? OMG!!
Happiest birthday to you, James. Hope the next year brings you great bounty.
Happy birthday, James! I have a mental image of Big Mama, Sarge and Robert Frost.
Happy Birthday James may your year be filled with joy and laughter
ZANELLE: The dichotomy between ‘real’ and ‘imaginary’ is a phony one.
Like Pink floyd’s “wall”, it is, and yet it is not….
BRAZEN: it just might be.
RITA: I am slowly , patiently, gaining their trust. I cannot do but more than that. A kiss would be nice.
Georgie pup will have a plethora.
FERNSY: that is not, exactly , uh, him. He is even goofier. Much more so. Thank u.
ISCH: then I am doing my job, ha, whatever it may be..to provide images sharp as real life. Thank you.
Mcs… LAUGHTER it will be. I hope I get someone ‘real’ to laugh with, but these real people are a glum bunch…
POOR: many thanks…many…….
Sending huge hugs for my fave philosopher..
Happy Birthday, James! I'm sorry about Robert Frost (the housemate). I hope things work out for him, wherever he ends up. What you wrote about his name on the mailbox by yours made me smile. Thank you for that gift, and I hope you get many wonderful ones in return today. I'm glad you'll see Georgie and your sister, and I hope the Verizon jaunt will soon be happily concluded, and that you'll be able to have fun for the rest of the day!
Dear Jimmy,
Happy Birthday, "kiddo." Here's to you, big sis, and Georgie puppy:
¡Cumpleaños feliz!
¡Cumpleaños feliz!
¡Cumpleaños querido James, cumpleaños feliz!
➼Don't go storing your phone or anything else in sweaty places.
➼Have a nice, long walk followed by a rich meal, a stiff drink, and a huge piece of b-day cake.
➼And remember: Our nation fought a war some 200+ years ago to get away from European monarchy.
➼He's my president, but she's most definitely not MY queen! I am not a British subject, and, last I could tell, neither are you. Jubilee, shmubilee. What's the obsession with foreign heads of state?
Where are Juan Carlos, Sofía and the princesas when you need them?
Big hug,
Deb
LOL @ my girl saying she is "tone death"-- a mistake? Maybe no
"Her texts are like from a Romanian orphan being taught English by a Russian schoolmaster"
Glad you did this birthday post. Saved me from having to do one for ya. Many happy returns man. Don't piss off big mama, and don't piss on Sarge.
Hot there today? Whew..
James,
Happy birthday! I hope this day is as wonderful as you are.
I am sending you a giant hug!
I and the world wish you the happy of the birthdays, James! Cake and bling all around!
Happy Birthday, James! Interesting neighbours and awfully cute nephew. Here's wishing you joy with a bit less of Frost's dash.
wishing you the best of wonderful days, for more best days to come, and remembering those you have already had.
Jim, when you blow out those candles - think of all the women on OS in a hot tub with you! That'll hold ya till your next birthday!
yes that would be deaf! Unless...
She sang a song and it just killed me!
Happy Birthday, dear James.
SCYLLA: How did I know u were gonna wish me a “grand” day? I shall maybe have to dub you “Grandfather” !?
ONISLAND: well, re. “darling”, I dunno about that. Could be…I shall look into it…sure wish I was!
ALYSA, if that same nice lady is going to help us, as last time at Verizon, it may be a very nice day…keep yer fingers crossed…it is the luck of the draw, there..i hope I don’t get the guy who is “proud to be a geek”, ay! Got him, once. Not as fun.
DEB: ha, glad someone caught the Queen thing. I have only one Queen: Isis.
Or Sophia. Let us see which one prevails……
TRIG: OH go ahead a do a b-day post on me. Then it would be ME ME ME clogging the feed. I could live with that.
DIARY: THANK YOU for the hug. I like hugs these days. Not from guys, though. Not yet. Maybe when I get in my 50’s?
ZUMA; bling? Hm. I kinda eschew that. I am a simple guy. But..a new hat would be nice. I lost that cool one that made me look like an Amish cowpoke.
Rated for more cake.. cake.. cake.. :D.
MARIA: thank u! Frost is downstairs , sober as a judge, but frantically arguing with someone..boy I will miss him : (
ORYOKI: you know how they say, ‘don’t focus on yer glory days’? Well,ha, I never had any, so it is all looking better already..the advantage of being a miserable hermit…
MARILYN: now THAT is an image I can get behind. All of us in cutoffs, of course. Keep it clean , this imaginary hot tub reunion.
ASIA; ha. DEAF. Not deaf and dumb though. Not anymore.
REDSTOCKING: old, dear friend. First friend on os! My gosh, has it been 3 and a half yrs? I still remember that silly post I made about bipolar disorder, and the immense support you gave me…thank u….
SEER: There is a controversy about who will pop out of the cake, but at this point, I don’t mind if it is Sinead OConner, cuz I am PISSED at that German pope!!!!
Happiest of Birthdays. Isn't it wonderful Salon is still here so we - your TRUE family - can celebrate with you. One non-alchoholic beer coming up.
Happy Birthday, James. That's a great picture of Georgie.
And for what it's worth, you seem as emminently readable as the redoubtable Mr. Robert Frost who happens to not be your (non)rental neighbor upstairs.
It does go on, does it not?
--r--
Happy Happy HAPPY Birthday!!!!! I do hope your day and your walk are spectacular..
Today, most of the world is watching the Euro Cup match. England vs. Italy. Tied at zero after ninety minutes. God save the Queen. She ain't a human being, according to Johnny Rotten. Sid Vicious was a junkie, just like your Robert Frost friend. Birthdays don't mean much to me anymore. I've had fifty. Too many fucking candles ruin the cake. Yes. Walk the Dog. Rufus Thomas would approve.
to a bright silk city light
happy birthday
james
CHUCK you are a kind man. Thank u.
LITTLEWILLIE: here in the northeast of America, people are watching a golf tournament, held here in good old Cromwell, ct. yippee.
LUNCHLADY; walk excellent. Georgie pulled L into a tree and scraped her shoulder, but L learned how to use her new phone. We called other sister and gabbed. L brought me a loaf of bread . Georgie ate half of it. L was mortified. It was typical Georgie mayhem & innocent fun.
DUNNITE: on and on, yes. thank u. i am getting more readable cuzza all my friends, whose styles and ideas i steal at will..like yerz.
DIANNE: no doubt of the veracity of your comment after today. thank u.
James, your son is darling! Hope you're having a wonderful day. I am studying a script for my acting class tomorrow. At least I will be getting back to it. Haappppy Birthday!!!! :-)
Happy Birthday, James! Georgie is adorable.
James: Happy (belated, sort of ) birthday. I'd send a video of me singing you the Birthday Song like Marilyn Monroe did for JFK but I don't, um, sing, as well as Marilyn. Love the dog picture and you too are looking good; you look like you're aging in reverse. I'm going to have to start calling you Dorian.
