I remember the days when authors wrote books, and publishers published them, and bookstores sold them, and all was right with the world. Those days are gone.
My last two books sank into the salty sea off the coast of the Island of Broken Toys, I think. Unpublicized, unsold, they languish, not even desireable enough to be remaindered--they wait to be pulped. Sigh.
I once got a royalty check for 17,000 dollars. That was a l- o-o-o-o-n-g time ago, back in the days when authors wrote books, and publishers published them, and yada, yada, yada. I had never seen a check with that many zeros. If I ever want to see one again (and I DO, dear God, I really really do), then I need to sell some books myself.
