Palin; Wordsmith

Rate: 3 Flag

Actually, in the same way that a broken clock is right twice a day, Sarah Palin has recently unwittingly (of course the only way she could) coined a pitch-perfect description of a group of shrill and disagreeable women; a "cackle."

As usual, of course, Palin misapplied it, to feminists. Of course, it instead describes the Michelle Bachmans, Ann Coulters, "Dr." Lauras, Nancy Graces and Sharron Angles --the all-American teahags perfectly.

In the same way that a group of lions is a called a "pride" and a group of ravens is an "unkindness," a group of screeching, brain-dead idiots with two x chromosomes apiece is a "cackle." Love it!

And a group of posters to Open Salon are "clueless."
I agree, it's the first genuinely creative contribution to language and letters to emerge from her brain, though I suspect it was purely by accident, she may have been reaching for "gaggle", in any case, it's a perfectly expressive word
I must say I resent the title of this post! ;-)

That said, "a cackle of pundits" does sound remarkably right...
Thanks, all. Except you, Mark.
Wordsmith-- no offense intended!
I didn't really think there was...but it certainly was startling at first glance!
Brilliant. I must use this word in coversation, and soon.
