Wacky Wednesday: CNN’s Martin Bashir Not Smitten with Mittens, Says His Refusal to Drink Might Put America in Jeopardy
So Martin Bashir finds it queer that Romney doesn’t like beer and because he doesn’t smoke he’s also not the right bloke to sit in the Oval Office.
We expected more from CNN but I guess when your standards are so low why not simply lower them further? It seems that because Mitt Romney won’t drink he’s not qualified to be president.
From the most trusted name in news is CNN’s Martin Bashir:
A teenage taste of beer aside, Mitt Romney does not consume alcohol. Which begs the question, will total abstention put his candidacy, perhaps even this great nation in jeopardy?
But then, if you drink too much Bashir will get you, too:
Take George W. Bush. He enjoyed a very warm relationship with alcohol until he decided to ditch the stuff after waking up with a hangover on his 40th birthday. A hangover? Hm. Perhaps the perfect word to describe the condition of the country upon the competition of his second term.
Mittens doesn’t drink or smoke due to religious reasons though he admitted he tried both once when he was a teenager but didn’t like it.
Would Bashir mock Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison (who is Muslim) or Joseph Liebermann for not eating sausages?
Is whether you have a beer (or not) supposed to gauge how qualified you are? Are Liberals really that worried about such a trivial matter..?
Not having a beer could put “this great nation in jeopardy?”
Abraham Lincoln didn’t drink that must be the reason why the nation fell into civil war during his watch.
There’s really not that much to say about Bashir’s remark except he’s a hack and so is CNN for keeping him employed and the fix is definitely in amongst journolists. Check out what blowhard Chris Mathews said:
Is there going to be a reluctance on the part of the voters, and the political community that talks politics, as we get into November, about dumping the first African President, the first African-American President? Is that going to be something that just ratchets people — Waaait a minute here, this guy’s gonna knock out the first guy that ever got aboard?
I wish this was made-up… it’s not… it’s actually happening.
