Obama's Worst Nightmare

Rate: 1 Flag

My Super Bowl broadcast featured an outstanding sailor, skipper,  and  businessman who literally went from rags to riches without government subsidies and support. Indeed, to paraphrase from my bookpleasures.com review of his inspirational book, "One with the Sea," the only impediments to his arc of accomplishment were created by unions and governmental obstructions.

Check it out, be inspired, and question your collectivist premises:

really? So, he sailed the seven seas without flying the flag of the USA (pretty much guarantees that all but the most violent douche bags won't mess with you), didn't enjoy the protections afforded by the coast guard, didn't use roads, take advantage of any business tax deductions, made himself exempt from fire and police protection, didn't attend public school or do any of the other gagillion things for which the government provides some or all of the funding.

This guy does sound amazing.
MalcomXY, while I am no great fan of capitalism as it is currently being practiced by most of big corporate America, how do you thinkthe government gets money to provide those services you describe?

I've had two small businesses and was mercilessly taxed on both of them, one, however, was especially bad. Having been involved in government contracting, I can tell you that the government wastes from 60-90 cents on the dollar to provide necessary services. Those ARE areas the private sector could excel in.

Before opening your mouth and revealing your monumental ignorance, you may wish to discover where Uncle Sam gets his money, and how inefficiently it is spent.

O'Leary was probably bleeding from the ass every time he filled out his income tax form.

Gordon, I've put your Eclectic Authors Showcase as a link in the "Other Interesting Links" section of the right column of my new blog: http://mikescommentaries.blogspot.com/
Yes, he is amazing, being able to travel around the oceans without any government-produced navigation charts ,GPS satellites, buoys, beacons, or lighthouses. And on top of that he doesn't use any radios, because those are all based on government-licensed radio frequencies.
Nutjob - I am truly sorry if you fell victim to the current tax laws, but taxes are quickly becoming the secondary source of where our government gets its money. Our government prints nearly as much money to cover its daily expenses and services as it does receive them in tax revenue.

I actually know a great deal about all of this, having received a post graduate degree in Economics. (it's about a $2.5 trillion to $2 trillion split at the moment in favor of taxes, but the graph is shifting quickly and we will soon be printing more money than we take in...that's federal. States are forced to have balanced budgets...wanna know more?)

I was making a flippant comment. You should learn about sarcasm and humor before opening your mouth and revealing your monumental lack of humor.
Oops, my bad. I should have caught the sarcasm, but on OS.....
Thanks, RWN, for adding a link to my show to your absolutely fabulous new website. What a resource it is!

I'm amused by some of the comments above. It would seem that some seek to pinch a piece of the skipper's glory via their status as taxpayers, assuming they pay any.
The nice thing about your talk radio show, Gordon, is that the guests allow for some intellectually stimulating discussion. Most TV and radio today is geared toward the twenty something libtard generation and generally depicts sex and violence.

How I wish things were different. Anyway, keep up the good work.
As for my new site, admittedly, it may have excessive religious links, but I've tried to include enough general information links to make it useful as a resource. I try to offer some balance in the political links, as you probably noticed. Thank you for the kind remarks on my new site. You're a class act Gordon.
