Pandora's Box
I looked someone up on the Internet and now I'm regretting having done it.
Never go there. Never go there.
I went there. Now I feel like I experienced an electric shock. I want to run out of the house and keep running until I fall down exhausted.
It was… Read full post »
US Banks probed for drug money laundering
This comment didn't appear on salon.com, so I thought I'd store it here. Salon appears to be teetering so I imagine OS will go with it when that time arrives. Too bad.

1. The new Salon layout continues to suck
2. I've moved salon to a subfolder of seldom… Read full post »
Mobile once more
A couple of weeks of 90F+ heat couple with a not-great car rental experience at Enterprise motivated me to get to the Toyota dealership. The Internet Sales Rep there showed me his e-mail inbox and e-mails from and to me dating back a year or two.
I leased a tiny car,… Read full post »
Six Months as a Pedestrian
As I walked to the market this morning, it occured to me (counting on my fingers) that it's been six months since I became a pedestrian.
No one from the State of California has contacted me (yet) about my citizenship being revoked for not owning a vehicle.
I've rented a car… Read full post »
Five shrubs
Rented a car the other day. I picked up five five-gallon Hawthorne shrubs to plant out in front along our garage. Very suburban. Very pleased about this.
In Dreams
Had a strong dream last night. My old flame was in a bedroom in a house I once lived in. She was asleep. I was shocked to see her.
She was still 23 or 24. Gorgeous. All the women I've ever pursued have been modeled on her. No one has… Read full post »
February? Really?
So... it's been about four months since I sold my vehicle. Been walking to and from the market and bank two or three times a week.
Bought some new walking shoes. Two pairs, actually. One pair was wide enough but the toes narrowed something fierce. Pinched toes equals ow. So in… Read full post »
The funniest part of the story...
Mercifully, I have a sense of humor. As does the universe. About a month back I was faced with some dental work for Kid #1 and the phone bill when I learned that my ex would no longer be sending any amount in child support, which was something of a surprise.… Read full post »
Two mesh bags
I walked to the local market which had advertised inexpensive whole chickens. Found two of those. The kids wanted soda pop so I located some eight-ounce cans of the types they wanted. Kid #2 wanted Yoplait brand yogurt. This market had the sharp Cheddar cheese I like (on sale!). What else?… Read full post »
three mile round trip
...with thirty-three pounds of groceries on the return leg. Yay, me.
Where are my car keys?
Ah, right. Sold the truck, therefore I do not have any car keys to lose. Make a note of that.
Pedestrian
The ex let me know this past Saturday that there would *be* no child support checks. This came as something of a surprise and a disappointment, especially since I had an appointment for Kid #1 to get a couple of cavities filled and the phone/net/cable bill due.

Since I… Read full post »

9/11.
Would elements in our own government have murdered thousands of
our own citizens in order to advance an agenda? And nurtured an
atmosphere of perpetual fear?
RIP all those who have died over the past ten years because
of this dark chapter in history. Read full post »
My 2012 Presidental Campaign Platform
1. Legalize dope... industrial hemp has massive potential,
including competing directly with petrochemical and plastic
concerns. And the US could just stand to get their fucking boot off
of people's throats for a change.
2. GTFO out Iraq and Afghanistan already. Close 2/3rd of the
military bases aroun… Read full post »
New Cat
I am extremely grateful and pleased to welcome a new kitten from Chanson Bleu Chartreux -- Garibaldi. When I die I fully expect God to be a Chartreux cat.
Graffiti
Driving out to Petco to buy an overpriced replacement aquarium filter I noticed a gang tag on a lamppost. Whoa. Not in my neighborhood. So I stopped @ Home Depot on the way home and bought a can of gray primer. Stopped and painted out the graffiti. F that noise.… Read full post »
Braces. Cat. Money.
This afternoon Kid #2 got her braces installed. Whew. Glad that's over with. She's not uncomfortable or crying. Could have been worse. Her mother paid for half of her medical expenses over the past month, which was helpful. And her mother produced a child support check for this mont… Read full post »
Hot weather, swimming upstream.
SHIT. I just noticed that the "Marineland Emperor" biowheel filter on my 40-gallon aquarium is NOT FUNCTIONING. One more little thing, you know? WTF is going on lately? "It's not the monkeys, it's the mosquitos."
There are only a handful of tiny fish left in the big aquarium. I guess the… Read full post »
KMET

KMET was the quintissential FM rock station in LA from about '67 until '86 or so. People LOVED it. There were other rock stations, but KMET was clearly the originator in LA.
I was thinking that I'd love to be able to tune in to a live stream of… Read full post »
Two weeks later
The death of my cat is really bothering me. The usual money worries and whatever else I worry about are still there, but the loss of my cat is really getting to me. Something/someone I truly loved and that loved me back. What a great cat. I was always happy to… Read full post »
Depression: press forward.
Things have not been going well lately. I can't say that I'm clinically depressed but I've had better months.
My cat died unexpectedly, which has really upset me. I loved that cat and he loved me. Kid #2 has had a number of doctor and dentist visits and is starting orthodontia… Read full post »
Last Day of School
Today is the last day of school for my kids, so I drove off at 5:45 this morning to buy a couple of bagels with cream cheese at the local good bagel shop.
I got back, parked, and walked in the side gate. Walking by the side of the house in… Read full post »
