Bio
Born in Denver, Colorado, 1950s-era capitol of the Beat scene, Gordon Hilgers was exiled to Dallas, Texas, in 1963, and Dallasites were so angry that another 9-year-old Democrat had entered the city that they killed Kennedy. From there, Gordon began writing poems and stories, eventually received a BA degree in newswriting, has written for The Dallas Morning News, despite the fact he was far too Liberal for the likes of William F. Murchison and John Birch, worked as an advocacy journalist and is partly responsible for the City of Dallas' public homeless shelter--where poor people can go to find jobs rather than getting told that because they've forgotten to embrace Jesus that God made them homeless.

MITT ROMNEY: CONSERVATIVE PREP FOR MARXIST REVOLUTION?

Rate: 2 Flag

Oh, that Mittens Romney Schmomney.  So, so secretive regarding exactly what he wants to do if elected president.

Of course, Mittens is being really smart about this, mainly because if he let the American people know what he’s planning, the American people would tar and feather him and run him out of Washington on a rail.

What little information he’s dropped on the press regarding his top secret agenda for a Romney Schmomney America reveals he plans on literally gutting government spending to the tune of $700 billion dollars.  That’s a lot of money.

On top of that, he wants to give the rich yet another tax cut, even as the Middle Class is struggling and even losing ground in the American economy.  This will mean that 1) he’s going to gut the government and 2) give the rich even more power than the rich already have.

Sounds like a recipe for total disaster, doesn’t it?

For one thing, the Republicans, so enamored over the mythical “free market” that they can’t see anything else than the word “free”, refuse to accept the simple fact that government spending stimulates the economy.  The way those free market zombies talk, you’d think the government is simply taking the people’s money and buying, well, let’s just say “jet skis”.

Yup.  The whole idea of the government just taking money that belongs to citizens and not the government is gaining steam in America, as sites like www.freedomsphoenix.com and www.mises.com blurt out all kinds of “self-ownership” and “free market” propaganda.  The only problem is, if anyone is to benefit from that drivel, it’s going to be the plutocracy, namely the Koch brothers, two quasi-fascist “Libertarians” who have done nothing if not fund dozens upon dozens of “free market” think tanks.

Free market and thinking: Seems like an oxymoron to me.

While the government does take-in billions in taxes, the government then turns around and funds businesses.  Even the roads the government is responsible for building are actually built by private businesses.  So.  What’s the big problem with that?

Profit, my friends; profit.  You see, whenever these free market freakazoids talk about privatization, you can bet your booties they smell money.  Privatizing Social Security would be a bargain bonanza for our pretty little Wall Street fraudsters.  Privatizing Medicare would turn it into a for-profit plan that would be much more expensive than what we already have.

But, seriously.  I don’t think Romney Schmomney is really interested in privatizing Social Security and Medicare and Welfare and Food Stamps and housing programs.  Nope.  He wants to eliminate them.

And that spells total disaster for democracy in America.

Recently, I’ve been reading Richard Pipes’ “A Concise History of the Russian Revolution”.  Pipes was Ronald Reagan’s National Security advisor for Soviet relations.  What really caught my interest was when Pipes talks about how the Bolsheviks tried exporting the Bolshevik Revolution to Europe right after winning the Russian civil war.  They failed.  Europe didn’t take the bait.  Why?

Because Europe had already installed social welfare programs like Social Security, and because of those social welfare programs, the European people, particularly the working class, wasn’t dissatisfied enough with democracy or Capitalism to embrace full-on Marxism.

Fast forward to 2012, and here we’ve got the Tea-turds hollering “Socialism!” every time we turn around.  What the Tea-turds want is to eviscerate social welfare programming because they want to keep their tax money.  How selfless of them.  Yes, the Tea Party is a sign of moral and social decline in America—not the solution.  Definitely not the solution.

So.  If Romney Schmomney, who is so secretive about what he wants to do should he become president, actually succeeds in his top secret plan for America, it’s entirely possible he merely will be setting the stage of a Marxist resurgence in America.

The independent unions, put into place in part to cut-off the Wobblies, are all but gone.  This means workers have less recourse to affecting their own destinies as employees.  That surely will breed discontent.

And, once people too poor to afford to pay for their own illnesses or their own retirements end up on the streets, and once people have no recourse to federal help in housing or food or even financial assistance when the wolf is at the door—where will they turn?

To Marxism.

Thanks, Mittens Romeny Schmomney.  You have about as much foresight as a myopic old plutocrat.  I’ll do everything I can to stop your foolish agenda.  Secret or not.

Grandma swore that FDR's New Deal kept the revolution from coming to America. As a good marxist (albeit of the Italian variety) she was very disappointed.

My grandad's favorite epithet was, "Those damned Bolsheviks!"
One gets the impression, from the militarization of the police and the suspension of the Bill of Rights that the corporate elite is already anticipating popular insurrection before the end of the year.
Dr. Stuart--I've thought the same thing.

I go back and forth with a number of Tea Party members in a political chat room, and communicate with Libertarians who are really really angry at the government, and have heard talk of that community arming itself. New Hampshire radicals are planning secession. The whole thing, of course, is based in taxation. The Libertarians and those even farther to the right claim that the government has a "monopoly" on the use of violent force which it uses to collect taxes, something they call "theft" or "rape" or whatever.

The worry isn't so much from the Left as it is from the far Right. But who knows? Maybe the military knows something we don't. Maybe they're preparing for a crack-down on undocumented aliens in this country. The reason I say that is, many radical leaders of that community consider the mass migration of millions to be "the Reconquista", the reconquering of land they believe the US took illegally from Mexico in 1845.

Those folks need to read their history books. The Mexican government at the time thought most of the American Southwest was worthless and thought the Americans fools for accepting it as a token in the Mexican War. Then, four years later, gold bugs found gold at Ft. Sumter. A few decades later, massive oil deposits were discovered in Texas. And then, when the US dammed the Colorado River and the Columbia River, millions upon millions of square miles of previously unusable land became rich farmland.

Just a few things there.
