Republican Men Hate Their Mothers

Rate: 30 Flag

hate

Like serial killers who act to gain and exert power over their victims, Republicans are attempting to change society, to cure a perceived societal ill.  And just like those mission-oriented killers typically justify their acts as "ridding the world" of a certain type of person perceived as undesirable, such as homosexuals, prostitutes, or people of a different ethnicity or religion, Republican legislators across the country have introduced laws that address America’s so-called social failings. In an odd twist of fate, the laws all victimize women...the mothers of mankind.

Since the days of Adam and Eve, female sexuality has caused some men to lose self-control so that they cease to be responsible for their actions - or so goes the accepted wisdom.  Many power- or control-motivated killers sexually abuse their victims,  while others simply see sex as merely a form of dominating a woman. Remember Ted Bundy?  He traveled around the United States merely seeking women to control.

Some Republican men clearly fear women's sexual power and even feel justified in blaming them for acts of male violence.  I’m reminded of a case in the early 80’s where a Wisconsin judge sentenced the rapist of a 5 year-old to only three months in prison because, according to the judge,  his five-year-old victim was,  “an unusually sexually promiscuous young lady”.  The judge  added, "I do not put blame on the child exactly, but I do believe she was the aggressor".    Such sentiment might explain why Republicans would seek to redefine “rape”?

Republicans introduced legislation stating that “Pregnancies resulting from statutory rape, in women who were raped while drugged or extremely intoxicated, in mentally incapable women, or in many of the victims of date rape would not be [considered “forcible rape”].  So if you’re drugged, raped and pregnant, too bad.

grassley

Sen. Charles ”throw grandma off the train” Grassley is against protections from domestic abuse for LGBT individuals and undocumented immigrants. Just let ‘em die, I guess.  He also opposes Native American tribes having the right to prosecute crimes.  American Indians should not have the right to prosecute White men, not even for murder.  Just so you know, according to government statistics, one in three Native American women will be raped in her lifetime. That figure is 2.5 times higher than the rate for non-Native women in the United States.   Still, prior to the Tribal Law and Order Act of 2010, there was a one-year maximum sentence for any crime prosecuted in tribal court.

A non-Indian could murder someone and receive a maximum one-year sentence.  In the US one woman continues to be raped every three minutes, one wife battered every 18 seconds;   more than three women are, on average, murdered by their husbands or boyfriends every day.

Still Republicans insist their intent, or so they claim, is to curb the abortion rate, protect the unborn.  I don’t buy it. They don’t cherish life!  No one is more supportive of war than Republicans.  Wars kill children.  Republicans  cut subsidies that feed, educate, house and keep children healthy, all while they fight to protect the richest among us.  Two million children go to bed hungry every night, just as many are homeless.  The richest nation in the world has an unseen population of children who are homeless, hungry, diseased, poorly educated, and victims of violence. Give me a break!

Clearly, women represent an unsettling power which contradicts and undermines their own more obvious social, political and physical power. And it’s high time these uppity broads were "put back in their place".  Republicans remind me of the man who said, “It’s not that I dislike women, I just wish they all weren’t such whores”.

Why do Republican men express such hatred of women?  Womb-envy? Clearly, I don’t really know. But I’m convinced that a man who has so little regard for women could neither love nor respect his mother.

Don't get your panties in a bunch, I know Democrats are not exempt, but I'm writing about Republicans. These are not facts...just my opinion. Thanks for coming by.
The good news is that so far they haven't suceeded into getting us into burkahs. I've always been convinced that when a man doesn't like his mother he is damaged goods, and may come up with creepy ways to control women. I never meet republicans. Mostly, if not entirely, I meet democrats. And, so many have been woman hating rats so I am in league with your comment. Without a doubt, Republicans don't cherish life more than any other. Their support of the death penalty always makes me scratch my head. If life is so precious... all life is precious, and in gods hands blah blah blah.
All in all, I agree with your assessment that there are many men out there who have agendas behind their politics, but I can't say they are akin to serial killers.
Always good to see you, Fay.
Fay, I am convinced most conservatives DO hate all women. I think it is more the “fear” kind of hate, but it is hate nonetheless. So, yes, whether the conservative is a Republican or a Democrat…he hates women. And if the “woman hating conservative” happens to be a “she” rather than a “he”…it doesn’t make the hatred any less ugly.
I can't believe that having marched with NARAL back in 2004 that women are still fighting the same fight. I take that back I can believe it because I did some investigating and the forces working against women have been in place and hard at work since the 1970s. My last article traces the roots of this unholy alliance back and I found that Mr. Foster (let them put aspirin between their legs) Friese is waist deep in this organization that includes the rich powerful primarily white/male, and ecumenical group hellbent on producing a theocracy of their own making in place. But Fay we have got to sound the alarm and remind women that we do have power we have to exercise it and exorcise the evil that permeates our society before they consume the rest of us. Well written piece. rated
My latest theory-

This is a last gasp by the "white male majority" to retain some vestige of power. They've been on the way out for a while and do not know any other way than force to retain some of their prestige in society. They are used to subjugating their "women-folk" and see this as a way to get a toehold on power again.

To Frank's comment- fear is a huge motivator. If it were a dog, a fear-biting dog will turn on you faster than a simply aggressive dog will. The simply aggressive dog will give you a warning, the fear-biter will just come up out of nowhere and try to tear your face off.
Phyllis...I truly think most hate is the product of fear. If we could only learn how to properly deal with our fear...read that, irrational fears...we could probably conquer most hate.
Fay, excellent as always but I have bad news. This bullshit is just starting. The Rebullyicans control 31 states, the House of Representatives and will probably win control of the Senate in November. Stone-age thinking is about to become almost totally in control. It would be funny if not so tragic. The very mob who is waiting with anticipation for the Rapture is pro-life. HA! Those who think there is no difference between the two parties should have their throats slit for spouting such ignorance. These current Republicans are dangerous people who hate democracy.
I've never been able to figure out the concept of "Republican women"
Repubs seem to hate everybody except old white males.

Interesting and not so far-fetched, really. ~r
I covered this in my most recent post, too. I couldn't agree more with you, Fay, on the need for this to be fixed.

It seems that with all the screaming and shouting about contraception/abortion going on as the election gets under way, this little ploy by Grassley is getting little or no ink at all.

As for Republicans hating Mommy.....I just don't know about that one! But it *seems to me* (which is to say I have no empirical evidence), looking backward, that a lot of GOP luminaries, whether preachers in Colorado Springs or Baton Rouge, or whether members of Congress...they seem to delight in strange (and invariably directly paradoxical to their public statements) sexual behavior.
Santorum is putting this issue in front of the public, so kudos to Rick for illuminating the GOP push to expand their alienation to women in general.
Ted Bundy was a good choice. He was a 1968 Rockefeller delegate to the Republican National Convention. Ol' Nelson was lucky Ted didn't get Happy.
Said it before, I'll say it again -- Christian fundamentalism is really not all that different from Islamic fundamentalism. Practitioners of both see themselves as "protectors" not abusers of women ... both seek to enforce their morality on the larger community ... both see "second amendment solutions' as their god-given duty ... both seek political power; and once they have it, refuse to compromise, which of course makes politics impossible ... both see their sacred texts as inerrant and actually given by God rather than written by men ... and both see their God as omnipotent and omniscient, but somehow still in need of defending by mere men.

In short, their supposed hyper-morality renders them fundamentally immoral.
Thanks to all of you for commenting.

I think my comparison to serial killers was motivated by an article I read which said 80% of serial killers are Republicans. I don't pretend to know how they ferret out such information.

I just know Republicans seem to have a terrible time dealing with the upward mobility of the female species. Which may explain why they were opposed to the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay legislation. It's all about control and supremacy.

I for one believe they would love to see women barefoot and pregnant. Imagine what might have occurred if Hillary had won the presidency. I shudder the thought.
My biggest fear is if Santorum wins the republican nomination then its time to lock up your daughters. Will it become Margaret Atwoods Handmaidens Tale?

HUGGGGGGGGGGG
Women outnumber male voters by MILLIONS. You don't have to put up with the b.s. VOTE YOUR INTEREST! Make sure the bastards hear from you. Support their opposition. give money. Make phone calls. Vot your issue. Support women candidates. Support Emily's list. Let the bastards know.

My panties are bunchless, Fay. No matter how much control over women they seem to lose, they continue to try. Maybe it's because they can't find any women who are willing to be loose with them!

Lezlie
They are afraid of powerful women. Women like Hillary Clinton frighten them. But, behind closed doors, they pay for their prostitutes and dominatrix's to treat them like the losers they are. Why does it seem the more powerful the man, the more likely he is to have a secret that will destroy him politically?
wow - amazing post. who knew that republicans were all afraid of women, and hated them. no wonder palin's husband is such a whimp!

there's a guy down my block, and I've personally seen him kick a puppy. he's an ex-con with lots of prison tats, and drunk 24/7, so i'm pretty sure he's a democrat. perhaps i should assume all democrats are like that?

the same warped thought process you displayed would seem to be justified here.

again, great post. i'm sure its making many people "think"
I'm not real fond of mothers who birth Republicans either.
This misogynistic pathology is not too hard to explain.
Such men resent women because they are highly dependent on them.
They begrudge the very real sexual power women effortlessly possess.
But not only that. Women are also, of course, maternal and comforting.
Such men especially abhor being in need of mommying.
Yet they do, poor wounded boys.
Men are supposed to be men, dammit!

Pride makes them strike out at their ‘oppressor’.
Do you understand?
For some men it is humiliating to be in need of woman.

Funny thing when you explore these freaks’ home life.
You will find some awfully icky things.
I am aware trashing Republicans makes me and others look bad -- but Republicans brought this disgust and dismissal on themselves.

There was a time when Republicans deserved respect, and they got mine -- even if it was grudging respect. They no longer deserve even grudging respect. Not since they sold out their Party and their soul to the Southern Strategy and Kindergarten Kristians.

When and if -- and that's now a big IF -- that Party returns to power the penny-pinching, compromising, responsible adults in the "room", they will again have my grudging respect for helping to keep in line those of us with audaciously romantic notions about humankind and the perfection of human society.

Until then, they deserve the burning coals heaped upon them by decent folk.
I always wonder what strange dislocation allows men (and some women) to rationalize away their responsibility in this. Silence is complicity!
Well done. I could not have said it any better had I thought of it myself. Good facts too. Thanks for this. Posting to FB.
Thanks to everyone.

Toritto: you're absolutely right. I just hope women remember that fact.

Scanner: I have no idea, but what you say is so true.

Baltimore: Welcome. Perhaps it depends on whether or not the puppy was female. :)
James:

I fear you've given an expert psychological breakdown of the poor babies.

A quick story: A group of friends are discussing what event in their lives had life-altering effects. People said things like having both parents killed in an automobile accident, a nasty divorce, learning they were adopted.

One man said when he was young (about 8) he would accompany his mother to town to sell make-up. Finally one day she said he could no longer go. At the time I thought it the silliest crap I'd ever heard. I would later learn he was insulting and downright abusive.
Tom, I totally agree with you. I too believe in giving people their props even when I don't agree.

Burning coals...OUCH!!
Brilliant essay, Fay, and I love that you included a photo of Anthony Perkins from Psycho. Hope this story makes the cover-- well-deserved.
Oh Fay Brava! I'm right there with you. My last two poems have been about this as well. You just say it so much better than I.
Oh oh, looks like someone ran out of aspirins here to put between her legs....wink
I hate to break it to those who feel that Hillary would be an outsider to these guys when The Nation did an expose that showed that she regularly went to their Bible study or prayer meetings at that C St. house. My last post is all about the who, what, when, where, and how this alliance has been formed and how they are gaining strength and power through their religious ties. The New World Order may well be this fundamentalist ecumenical religion they have formed. In Washington we have very few friends on either side of the aisle. That's why Kucinich will never gain traction as a Presidential candidate he isn't a believer.
I know. I think for everyone's good, we badly need to get rid of.... Republicans. How any thinking, self-respecting woman could ever vote Republican this year I don't know. I'd never vote for someone who so blatantly despised me. It's definitely time for another Year of the Woman. You can't grossly insult over half the voting population of theUnited States and get away with it!

In a way I'm glad they're exposing their own ugly attitudes so recklessly. It's makes it so much easier to fight them when they're actions are outrageous as opposed to subtle. Maybe they think we won't be outraged. Let's prove them WRONG.

Most people seem to think that God is a male deity. Where does that leave women? Great piece.
Fay, I think that a fair number of the right-to-lifers are primarily motivated by what see as murder of the unborn. That leads them to take the same positions as others who are more animated, to some extent at a subconscious level, by a fear or repulsion of women being able to exercise their sexuality just as men do.

It would be entirely consistent for someone to believe that abortion is murder and shouldn't be allowed while believing that sexuality was good and that contraception and early sex education were essential policies. On reflection, and having just read over what I've written, I note that the veritable absence of anyone actually holding those views probably supports your opinion that it really is the anxiety over female sexuality. Interesting look at it.
It must be frightening for them to see their good ole boys network shrinking, at least in their eyes. All of us uppity women, uppity blacks, etc need to just shut up and bow to our masters. I don't know if their days are numbered or not, but seeing a black woman "occupying" the white house is their worst nightmare come true. Great article, Fay.
What everyone else says and of coarse all you say to!

Republicans, regardless of gender, hate everyone who isn't exactly like them...or like whatever wacko retro image of people they concoct as an ideal. This is why I cannot for the life of me understand wy such oxymoronic groups as

Black Republicans
Gay Republicans
Women Republicans
etc.
exist.

Do these folks really believe that Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Barbara Bush, W, Jebb, or whoever is really longing to have a beer with them?
I was raised with the belief that the best thing a father can do for his children is to love and respect their mother. So, I agree with your last paragraph, Fay. A man who doesn't love his mother must have been raised by example and will continue the pattern in his life. A great loss and pity.
