Panic Button

I have a confession to make.  I suffer from panic attacks.  It started several years ago--not sure what the trigger was, but they have not gone away.  It’s not an everyday occurrence, but when they hit, they hit hard.  Like right now.  I was on Facebook reading about/… Read full post »

Cheesecake

Hello, all,

It's been a long time since I've posted.  As some of you know, I've been performing my solo play, "Alzheimer's Blues" since June in NYC.  Yesterday was the last show of the year, and the best.  The audience consisted mostly of strangers--people from Gold Star, TDF, and othe… Read full post »

Quiet day

at the office

outside, April drones

its pollen tune--

Achoo!

“I got my Zyrtec in the morning,

and Benadryl at night.”

Spring’s splendor

tugs at my heart

and waters my eyes

awake to its glory,

ragweed and all.

  Friday afternoon.

Go Ahead, Make My RNC

Clint.  Why, oh why, oh why?  Who made the decision to let you speak at the Republican National Convention last night?  And with unkempt hair, no less.  His talking to the chair where imaginary Obama was sitting reminded me of the film Harvey with Jimmy Stewart (now a Broadway pla/… Read full post »

Play It Cool, Boy (Girl)

“Boy, boy, crazy boy!
Stay loose, boy!
Breeze it, buzz it, easy does it.
Turn off the juice, boy!
Go man, go,
But not like a yo-yo schoolboy.
Just play it cool, boy,
Real cool!”

In February I went to California and my Dad and I took a trip along the Pacific Coast Highway towards Santa Barbara.  This is not really "my" sky since I live in New Jersey, but rather views of the Pacific sky through my own lens (iPhone, to be exact).   The first… Read full post »

Brain Fog

Don’t know why there’s a fog inside my brain, foggy brai-ain!  Can’t seem to get my poor self together, it’s raining all the time.  (to be sung to the tune of “Stormy Weather”)

Free Falling

In the wheelchair

rocking

pushing forward from the hips

seeking that thing

that fell to the ground

after breakfast.

Was it a last bit of muffin

or a hidden gem

no one else could see

but she knows is there

She reaches, straining

Smiling Lady Not Smiling Today

The lady who sits outside the elevator

on the third floor,

who always wears a necklace

of chunky multicolored plastic beads

isn’t smiling today.

I call her “The Smiling Lady”

because she always smiles,

and sometimes compliments me,

but she isn’t smiling today.

She glowe… Read full post »

All I Have Left is My Skin

“All I have left is my skin.”  That’s what Mom told me today when we were sitting outside.  It wasn’t the easiest visit with her.  As my husband Lorin says, every visit costs.  It costs me emotionally, if in no other way.  I may leave elated after a go/… Read full post »
