Sky With Stuff In It (Eye Your Sky OC)

Rate: 21 Flag

In February I went to California and my Dad and I took a trip along the Pacific Coast Highway towards Santa Barbara.  This is not really "my" sky since I live in New Jersey, but rather views of the Pacific sky through my own lens (iPhone, to be exact).   The first 4 photos were taken at the Cliff House Inn in Mussel Shoals, where we stayed overnight.

The next day we ventured south to Ventura.

My Dad and I came upon these steel sculptures by accident (a happy one).  The artist's name is Tyronne McGrath.  We went to the studio and rang the bell, but he wasn't in.  Dad called him to discuss his work and where he could get scrap metal for some of his own art projects.  McGrath's work was in an adjoining yard and all around the studio.  He is a construction worker by day.

I know it's hard to tell from this photo, but the yellow-headed guy
is raising what looks to be a bicycle chain in his left hand.
Perhaps he is saluting the sky?
Vive la difference!
P.S.  Forgive the formatting:  I could not get the spacing
to adjust no matter what I did.

Erica, I can not believe that these beautiful images are from your i-ρhone. These are great, it is the first time that I see the Pacific sky and I so loved your titles.

'' Saluting the sky''..excellent..and this one .." Sunset through beach chair'', or ''Sky with Stuff in it''...

Thank you Erica, it was a true travel to me. Be well and beautiful as always!!!

Beautiful photos from your iPhone. Aren't road trips grand?!
Beautiful pics, Erica; I was born and raised in Santa Barbara. R
Very pretty trip, Erica. Gotta get out there!
Thanks for stopping by, everyone. Had a great time visiting Dad in February. You don't see such intense blue skies in NJ.
Oh such beautiful. Ble skies and sunsets!! The skiing cockroach made me laugh! Thank you for sharing these! :) xxo
Terrific!

It's so nice to see someone pay heed to the sky instead of just the impressive expanse of ocean. You, I think, have a very interesting mind!

Best to ya.........Sky
.
These are cool- I could feel the sunshine and smell the air. I love that smell.
These are wonderful, the sky was a beautiful color when you were there. Love the steel art in the sky, it makes me so happy that people put things up outside for others to enjoy. I like the skiing roach, he looks like a Tim Burton character.
Wonderful photographs. Enjoyed this post.

I salute you for this great trip. My fave = the water with the sun. Terrific!
What a fun trip. I love those funky sculptures. If you don't wiggle the photos in place as soon as you get them uploaded they are a bear to configure after you add more photos. But no one really cares. It is the beauty of the photos and the fun I am after.
Joanne, I'm glad you enjoyed.

Skypixie, I'm an air sign--Libra--so it's in my nature to be a lover of sky.

Thoth, what a great place to grow up. I did my last 2 years of high school in Hollywood, CA.

Phyllis, glad you enjoyed these images.

L'Heure, I agree. It's very generous to share your art in that way. I have more photos of his work--may add on later.

Scylla, thanks for dropping by.

Nilesite, nothing trumps the beauty of nature.

Zanelle, yes, I could not get the text after the first paragraph to left align and the spacing I put in kept getting deleted.
That was so cool....,
Thanks, scanner.
So very neat! My grandfather helped build 101 in Northern California and Oregon...From California to Canada it is my favorite highway in the U.S....and I've seen quite a few! Thanks for the jog in memory...
Thanks for stopping by, KC!
Great pictures! I love the ocean and California!
[r] wow, thanks for sharing those. PCH -- what a horizon!!! best, libby xxxx
PTS and libby, thank you for stopping by. Kind of embarrassed by the lousy formatting. But the photos are lovely, if I don't say so myself. xo
I travelled through your work. Thank you for this.
Very cool pictures! I love this OC idea - it's getting me to travel right from my own couch. Thanks for sharing these images!
Olga, I'm glad you enjoyed.

Alysa, thanks. It was Stathi Stathi's OC.
Intense colors, although the composition and "texture" of the first one makes it my favorite. I love the variety you have provided in this collection! I'm also impressed with iphones now, too.
Thank you, Donegal. I am impressed with the iPhone's photographic ability too.
How the hell did I miss this. I try my best not to miss a post of yours. Beautiful skies and great pictures. Love the PCH too.
