Smoke, in the haze of memory:
It is only time.
Time is the only medication
That has, as it’s cause, forgetfulness;
Healing through time,
Working to heal, through loss, the pain.
Yet, it is the individual that forgets
That will repeat the same mistakes
In blissfully unaware health.
And those pained souls that do not –
The steps taken to maintain self-preservation!
For, although those that forgive also forget,
Those that do not; do not.
There are some that forget, but do not forgive –
They live in fear.
There are others that do not forget, but forgive.
They live with their fear.
They master their fear and become strong.
They are brave.
For what is bravery if not being afraid –
And doing it anyway?
So, my advice is this:
“Do not forget and say,
‘Forget it.’ ”
Do not say, “I fear nothing.”
Say, instead, “I am afraid,
But not too afraid
To overcome my fears.”
Do not hide your fear, for then
Fear becomes your master.
Master it by acknowledging it
Without giving it control of you.
That is the beginning of wisdom.
It is the beginning of self-trust.
Combined – these are the beginnings
Of love.

You know, there *can* be positive aspects to having one's heart broken. It causes soul searching. It makes you wonder, starting with you and your place in it. Then you start listening. To your heart, mind and soul; to others; then the world.
The Moody Blues say it better than I ever can:
And he thought of those he angered,
For he was not a violent man,
And he thought of those he hurt
For he was not a cruel man
And he thought of those he frightened
For he was not an evil man,
And he understood.
He understood himself.
Upon this he saw that when he was of anger or knew hurt or felt fear,
It was because he was not understanding,
And he learned, compassion.
And with his eye of compassion.
He saw his enemies like unto himself,
And he learned love.
Then, he was answered.
You could say that's pretty much what happened to me and it was a lifechanging moment for me. I'm so glad I was only 16 when it happened. I've had so much time to practice writing it down and telling people that soon, at least I hope so, I might actually be heard.
[Sorry, I'm oddly joyful and maudlin at the same time today.]

I love Google~~
but they couldnt write
'Time is the only medication

or

or
“There are others that do not forget, but forgive.

This is an a very nice pulling apart of such a damn trite
familiar phrase, forgive & forget.
