No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't make it look exactly like him until I got the complete deadness in his eyes.

What does that mean?! "The complete deadness" in his eyes? Do you mean he had black eyes? Do you mean that he had a blank stare? I'm so curious.....
I think I understand. Andy sort of reflected back what he saw around him. There didn't seem to be anything of HIM in him or his expression.
How interesting! Love it too!

In the photographs I remember of him, he always seemed like the "real" Andy was hiding deep away from the public Andy, and all we were allowed to see was a machine, giving the public what it demanded of him.
One of your very best. Very good.
[r] AWESOME. I thought you were working in pastels. I do portraits myself. Only pencil and charcoal. The eyes, the proverbial 1000 yard stare ... haunts.
Too neat!! It's Andy!!

Rated also for the tags!
I met Warhol at a party at Maxwell's Plum in the late 1970s. He went to practically every party in NYC and many of us who lived there and were in any kind of scene met him somewhere along the way. He looked almost albino, and appeared much like you portrayed him here. His date was the ample actress Sylvia Miles, who was gregarious.
Wow!! I love it. I think you really have a great touch with portraits. Seven more!! Congratulations on a well deserved EP.
This looks like oil to me. I love the colours and vibrancy..
Congrats on the EP
HUGGGGGGGGGG
Nicely done!
That is just what I noticed in all those photos of him...those dead seeming eyes....
Have you seen the children's book called "Uncle Andy"?
That's one my kids had. Told from the viewpoint of a nephew of Warhol's.
Lots of conversations grew out of that story... : )
Love it. Simply love it.
This is amazing!! To open the cover and see this was stunning!! Absolutely spot on....
Great painting. Glad I found your site--I looked at your other work, too. I had always been a big Andy Warhol fan ...
Very nice likeness and vibrant colors. I have also loved painting on that side of the board. It's as thirsty as canvas and maybe more so.
Wow! Can you paint! This is impressive! You captured him.
When I first saw this painting. You had Amdy dead on! (No pun intended) Great job! Andy was a genius! I would have loved to see what HE WANTED TO DO in art today. Brilliant!
Yeah - the dead eyes. Without them, it just doesn't look like him . . . or at least, our impression of him.
Oh BULLSHIT!

Andy's eyes were not dead at all. Just shifty.

The "blank' business was just a pose. Andyis one of the lievliest people I've known. Cut away the Pop Art "Dandy' and you'll find th big fluffy teenage girl he reall was.
