Title
A Heartbeat that never comes to rest
Bio
This story begins last year, delves into the painful history starting 25 years ago and will end with the events that led to the devastating outcome in New Hampshire and the very unexpected results. The story is laced with the all too important life saver of humor, a certain amount of erotica, controversial experiences and painful decisions. Oh...and Music! My heart has gone into this as I have been a hermit for the past 14 months preparing and ultimately reliving the events that have put me here. And it is with you that I will find my way.

Waiting for your post to appear and learning how to autoplay

Rate: 11 Flag

Click on video to turn it off

This was the biggest pain in the ass to do, half of it I had to us PCPAINT because SALOn translates all the code.  But it is step by step

(if you want to draw a tear, watch Andy Kaufman, who had him on his show prior to his death from cancer and was so excited to have him, he too cried)

Before we begin: Do you have difficulties when hitting the "update" or "publish" buttons?  Does it seem to take forever to post?

I open two windows.  The one I am creating or editing the post and the other with the post (or a previous post if you are just creating the new one).  About 10 seconds after you hit that publish or update button, go to you other post that is finished and press the ctrl+r button.

Your updated or new post should be there.

I promise.

And the other window where your new or updated post will probably still be acting like it is doing the work, it's done, I promise.  Just close it.  Or if that scares you, then leave it until it's done.  But don't let it hinder you in getting on with life on the net.  Or in Salon.

If you are learned about embeded videos but do not know how to autoplay, just skip the menusha and go directly to steps 6 and 7. Very fast and easy

This looks long and confusing, but really, I have made it long to make certain it is as elementary as a First Grade Reader.

First you will go to youtube http://www.youtube.com/

Pick a video, but beware some have actually disabled embedding and sharing.  Also, check your post often (I have over 80 with songs, so I actually created a playlist to see if any of mine have been disabled.)

Step 1        First pick

SHARE

Step 2        Then pick

EMBED

This is what you will see

   auto

auto1

auto2

auto3

auto4

Ctrl V

Place your cursor at the end of all that mess.  If you are prolific at HTML then place the cursor where you want to paste it.  Then Control V by first placing your finger on your CTRL button which should be on the far most bottom left of your keyboard.  While holding it down, simply tap on the letter V, ick update at the bottom, you will now see your video in a yellow box.  Once you save and update, your video should play. Also, when editing your post, you can move the video around by picking it and moving it elsewhere, or pick it, copy it (Ctrl C) and paste (Ctrl V)  it where you want
(If you do not want to have it autoplay just paste the code directly into your post using the Step 9 eliminating steps 7 and 8)

These are persnickety little demons, so if it doesn’t work the first time, go back and check your code, but check the one in.It is says embedding disabled, pick a different song, and just to stand on ceremony, never use that artist again.  Autoplay brings a considerable amount of revenue to the artist.  People tell me all the time that they have heard music on my site and have bought the CD.

Please ignore this if you get easily confused.  Another mind trick, I am a Dale Carnegie type of girl so I use different situations to remember things.  I always remember that the first Autoplay is second and the second autoplay is first, If nothing works, PM me and I will set up the code for you and send it with a word document through another email residence.

I picked this song because it made me think of all of you and how you have become such a perfect wonderful part of my life!

By the way IISTG means If It Seems Too Good to be True
Yes, this is absolutely positively true. If you lived this wouldn't you write about it? Some of the names of characters in this blog are fictitious. This is an account of actual events. Some of the events have been compiled together for the flow of the story. Even when I read my own work, I wonder how it could be so. But if you study your own life and compartmentalize it into less than 200 pages, you would be surprised how interesting it really is!

Thanks. Now I just have to understand it. :)

R A T E D .
You got it all right in great detail. I would only add that after you have put the old embedded code into the html and clicked update you will go back to your post and see nothing. Ha. I finally realized that you have to scroll down a little and there is the yellow box and the video will show up there. You usually need to backspace the box up a bit to fit with the words.
I have sent a pm where i will do it for you and all you have to do is copy it.
Dianne,you are an AS.

Will I be able to listen to the restricted videos, too?

Rated for your great support for all.

Dianne, you are an AS !!!How can you be such expert in this cyber stuff?
I was going to ask you how you backed up your whole OS activities.
I would like to save each and all, too.

I have had trouble listening to videos with restrictions here in Europe.Would your information solve the problem for me?
There have been many I could not see but would have been important to me.

Rated for your great support

I though I had lost it all. Here you have it double, now.
what does AS mean....ASS...no you woldn't mean that. I have sent PM's to all of you for personal service
tell me the name of the song you want autoplayed. I will create it on http://open.salon.com/blog/autoplay
Then go there and highlight it directly from the post and it copies. If you are reluctant, highlight the above video and paste it to see.
Auto play is intrusive and evil. It takes away my right to choose.

If I want to watch a video on somebody's post I will. I do not, however, like it forced upon me. Please stop fomenting aural rape!
looks....ehh.....informative.....but.....i'm still studying the directions for on/off....
I expected maybe one or two missives, but aural rape? C'mon.

Do you turn the music off as you watch movies? It says this comes with a soundtrack.

Many people have told me how I have opened their lives up with the eclectic taste I have. They have also said that they do not pick the videos on the posts to play admitting they are probably missing something special, this makes it so much nicer.

But I have received an occasional spiteful comment and I allow them to stay, if only to reveal how a person can do everything they can to make life easier for others only to have them suggest that perhaps I am imposing.

People know my blog runs this way and can choose to not come and read.

And of course, all it takes is one click on the video to stop the music; about 50 keystrokes less than it took to write the insult.
I wondered how you did that and now I know, having the screen shots really helps. Copied and saved the information. Thanks Dianne.
i would discourage autoplay on this site, as it often already runs slow.

if you’re on a slow connection, the autoplay videos slow your page load even further because they will take a minute to fully spool up.

when i read posts here, i generally have several different posts open and loading in several different tabs... if each had an autoload video, could you imagine the cacophony of sound that would happen?

of course, to each his own.
My respect for you,Dianne, just for tolerating comments that could have been said in a better way.

Safe_Bet's Amy:
Do you realize how much of your own history is underlying each of your aggressive statements?
I appreciate all of your comments because all of them make sense and were created in a very smart brain.
In order for you to receive the amount of kindness you are asking for,it would be wise to apply kindness to your own words as well.
Again, it's a simple click on the video to stop it.

I do not know why people would have several Salon tabs open, but in that case, yes, disabling is the solution.

But right now I am 50 for 3 pro video.

If I stand to loose a large number of readers because of it I would be an idiot to not stop it. But at the end of my posts I get so many good comments on the music. I also get PMs from people telling me how I have opened them up to new musical tastes,

I have started a new type of blogging, so I need to follow it thru.

It would save me a lot of time without the music as I spend hours per post finding the perfect piece.

I really want to see this to completion
Heidi
You were so sweet to write that and it was a most introspective commnet.

Using the word "rape' so cavalierly is tantamount to libel. It is especially sad when it is from another woman and worse, another gay woman.

I think that was more hurtful than anything.

But I have realized so much strength here, it was almost like water off a duck's back.

I do not think she is a bad person and I left the comment for her to reflect in the future, and I feel she will re-read it someday and feel differently about the wording.

As I said in the beginning, Jonathan Wolfman asked me specifically to create a post on the subject.

I was flattered he would ask, so I got right on it
Dianne, there is a video on "Silverhair"and I felt tempted to insert it here or send it to Jon in a PM.

(and "Cattle jodler")
I am not familiar with silverhair, I only know how to work with youtube embeds, not saying I couldn't learn. Tell me the artist and the name and I will show you how to put it in a link, or if you want it embedded in one of your posts
Is anyone looking at that video? It is so poignant to watch Andy Kaufman.

I don't know if this was put together with stock footage, but as a rule Midnight Special NEVER panned to the host while a song was playing. I would bet the host left the stage under most circumstances. It is so weird that this video played out so ominously.

His whole life from a small child he was a Slim Whitman fan and had ALL his songs. WHen he was asked on Midnight Special to announce Slim, he was afraid he was going to screw up. He was so excited he could hardly contain himself.

Watch him in the background.

This song is perfect because Andy Kaufman died and it is him who is Slim remembered.
This is very bueno! I love it when this happens, the music starts to play automatically like magic, because it can set a mood. Thank you for taking the time to illustrate how to do this for all of us non HTML speakers.
Thank you, Dianne, this is very helpful. R
Wow. okay...

Heidi: Who are you? Where do you get off insulting my intelligence simply because I have a differing opinion? Kindly STFU. Thank you.

Diane: And you complimented her on her insult? Really? BTW, STOP sending your post whoring PMs to me. Thank you too.
Dianne, where is the insult ?I am not aware of any thus can't find one.
Amy, if you wish to return, and I hope you do, just hit your mute and that gives you the choice. Or simply click on the video. I would put them up higher, but then they would all play at once when visiting the blog.

And as you asked I have removed you from the "favorites" list to eliminate your getting PM's accidentally.

I will just visit your blog from time to time to see if you have started writing again.
