Ok, before someone jumps all over me saying that there actually IS an H1N1 virus that is not what I am saying here.
Instead, the purpose of this post is to shed light on the disinformation campaign that is being run by YOUR Government when it comes to the severity of this flu.
First, some facts.
According to the CDC: In the United States, on average 5% to 20% of the population gets the flu; more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from seasonal flu-related complications, and; about 36,000 people die from seasonal flu-related causes.
According to the FluTracker website: As of October 25th, there are 778,320 Confirmed/PROBABLE cases and 6,189 Fatal cases...of H1N1 WORLDWIDE.
And finally, as of 25 October 2009, the Earth's population is estimated by the United States Census Bureau to be 6.793 BILLION.
Now let those numbers sink in for a bit.
You can see that we are NOT dealing with an out-of-control crisis here. Not even close.
Now for some VERY interesting information.
According to an investigative report by CBS News the severity of Swine Flu cases has been SERIOUSLY overestimated.
"The vast majority of cases were negative for H1N1 as well as seasonal flu, despite the fact that many states were specifically testing patients deemed to be most likely to have H1N1 flu, based on symptoms and risk factors, such as travel to Mexico."
What I found most interesting about this article was two things.
First, CBS News asked for specific information from the CDC with regard to the impact of H1N1 on the States and they were stonewalled.
"When CDC did not provide us with the material, we filed a Freedom of Information request with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). More than two months later, the request has not been fulfilled. We also asked CDC for state-by-state test results prior to halting of testing and tracking, but CDC was again, initially, unresponsive."

So let's pause and take a look at what we have here so far:
1. The reported fatalities WORLDWIDE are far less than what we experience on an annual basis just for the regular flu.
2. According to the report by CBS News which actually DID grab data from all 50 States, the number of reported cases of H1N1 is being SERIOUSLY overestimated.
3. The CDC has been reluctant, although it's their job to do so, to inform the public as to the extent of the actual severity of H1N1.
Now ask your self WHY if this is the case would President Obama feel compelled to do what he did yesterday and proclaim H1N1 a "National Emergency."
Not only that but as CNN's Lou Dobbs has been reporting for weeks now, there is a massive shortage of vaccine available for those that are seeking it.
If the government thought that this was such a big deal you would think they would be prepared to combat it. Apparently not.
If the government is inadequately prepared to fight H1N1 and the number of cases is SERIOUSLY overestimated then WHY is the population being frightened into taking this vaccine at all costs?
You've probably seen the videos of people lined up around the block waiting to get their H1N1 shot and you've no doubt heard of the shortages that many states are encountering.
Again I ask.
WHY are we being compelled to take this vaccine?
This looks like and smells like a big, fat hoax.
Like I said, I think there IS an H1N1 strain of the flu out there. That's been proven.
What I DO NOT believe is the fact that we are in a state of National Emergency or a Medical Pandemic.
The government can use all of the big, fancy words that it wants but the fact is this is NOT a pandemic.
What is DOES look like though is payback.
The US Government, according to CNN, spent nearly $3 BILLION early this year to order enough vaccine for the United States population that would need it.
I have a strong feeling that they are now realizing that this thing is not going to be as big as they once thought it was but now they are stuck with the bill.
SOMEONE has to pay for the vaccine that is being produced.
Earlier in the Health Reform debate it was widely reported and has now been verified, that the Obama Administration "cut a deal" with Big Pharma in return for their support for Obama's Health Reform Bill.
I think it's payback time.
Is it possible that the H1N1 "pandemic" is a manufactured crisis to make sure that Big Pharma is paid off for it's support?
As I watch the nightly news coverage and see how the media is doing it's level best to whip the American People into a fear-induced frenzy and I couple that with the bonified FACTS, something just doesn't add up here.
In the meantime, several states have passed laws that will enable the police and the "public safety" personnel to enter your home, without your consent, quarantine you or even put you in a detention facility if you fail to get the vaccine.
What is REALLY going on here?
H-O-A-X?

Apparently President Obama's daughters, who are in the "high risk" category, have still not received the H1N1 vaccine.
Do you really think that if they NEEDED to have it they wouldn't already have received it? The daughters of the President of the United States?
I'm not buying any of this and you shouldn't either.
The TRUTH is that there is some really dangerous stuff in this and many other vaccines that we simply should NOT be putting into our bodies.

The incompetence angle is the better lens with which to critique the Obama-led healthcare reform.
I am a health care provider who works in a large(and prestigious) clinic/hospital in the midwest . I have been working with people who have been heavily hit by the influenza this year.
You can call it whatever you want, but to watch what was once a healthy, normal and happy child die from the influenza(pneumonia) is beyond words.
There have been 3 young children this past week alone who have died, not all had underlying health issues.
Unfortunately, the virus has been tricky to grow and the CDC has confirmed this, over and over again. This is not a governmental scheme to scare anyone. And the CDC and the government is not out to mislead anyone.
This is a real menace. Just ask the families who have lost a loved one from the flu.
In Wisconsin, my son who works in the emergency room at one of the hospitals does not check every person for H1N1 who shows symptoms...it is not necessary, and it is not cost effective.
In my state, we have sentinel hospitals who track the virus, so that the infectious disease health care professionals(and CDC) can get a feel for how pervasive it is. So far, most of the influenza type symptoms that have been cultured have been H1N1.(some have been Type A influenza but not classified by any subtype) That is, very little if any seasonal flu has been cultured.
So, our state has a very scientific and detailed account of the pervasiveness of this flu.
I am not sure what the so called 'emergency' means in medical terms..it might allow the health care facilities to bypass the red tape a bit to allow the personnel to work more efficiently.
Maybe, if there is someone who knows what this means can address it here.
I would not hesitate for a moment to tell families in my hospital to keep children away from the patients who have fevers of unknown origin.
And declaring H1N1 a national emergency? Are you kidding?

When it hits everyone that this is one nasty bugger of a flu, it will be a bit too late, I think. Especially since most people aren't going to get any vaccine, even if they want it.
and to add to your post, the seasonal flu has barely started. We probably haven't seen deaths from the seasonal flu yet.
questions for anyone:
If I was your child's nurse or doctor, would you want me to be vaccinated to protect your child?
What if I said it was a government conspiracy and I didn't want to be vaccinated...wouldn't you rather have a nurse/doctor who is protected against the flu?
Would you think I would have an ethical responsibility to be vaccinated?
The other thing that we are not being told is what is actually in this vaccine. Did you know that Thimerasol and Mercury along with foreign DNA is contained within this vaccine. Both the Thimerasol and Mercury are KNOWN poisons. Why would anyone shoot this stuff into their veins? Mark my words, the after effects of this vaccine (and others like seasonal flu vaccine) will kill far more people than H1N1 will over time.
You mentioned that there are poisons in the vaccines. This is somewhat true. Some 'poisons' are given in small doses as medications...ie, warfarin(rat poison) is one of them, and it has proven to be a valuable drug for those who have certain heart arythmias or for those who have blood clots. Then there are poisons given for cancer is large doses in hopes of stopping the tumor and providing for better quality of life. And, I could mention the pesticides used on produce and I could go on and on.
The point that I am making is this:
Does the benefit of the vaccine outweigh the risk of getting the flu and passing it on to the people who are very vulnerable(pregnant women and children)? This is a personal decison for all to answer.
What I do know is that I have been in healthcare for a very long time. I tend to be privy to information that the public sometimes does not have readily.
I believe that I have a personal and ethical responsibility to stay healthy to care for my patients. I take the vaccine for my health but I also look at the bigger picture. That is, I look at who I might affect if I do not take the vaccine.
Pandemic just means that the virus is widespread through out the world. It doesn't suggest numbers.
Ms Fisher's web site features some good information in regards to vaccination..she attempts to educate the consumer so that he/she can make informed choices on whether to vaccinate or not. Apparently, she is a strong advocate as she has a vaccinated injured child.
Dr Joshep Mercola is a doctor of osteopathy; is an advocate of alternative medicine. He supports accupuncture, herbal medicine, and diet as ways to fight diseases and cancers...the articles I have read on him gives me a sense that he mistrusts conventional and institutional models. Apparently, some of his ideas on alternative medicine cannot be proven.
He has been criticized by the media for "relying on slick promotion, clever use of information and scare tactics"(Business Week 2006). One article mentioned that he sells his own microwaves(and other products) to the public because he believes the other microwaves harm people. He is also published., having written more than 10 books.
Suzanne Sommers just came out with a new book, speaking about alternative medicine for those who are interested in this topic.
In 1918 an estimated 50 million people died of the Spanish Flu. I guess that was not an emergency either.
