Bio
Once upon a time this writer was a reporter/photographer and columnist for a large weekly newspaper in New York City, worked at the Center for Publishing at N.Y.U., worked at Kirkus for one whirlwind semester and eventually was an editor at Scholastic. After two very eventful years on cable television in New York City, this writer was voted off the island. Today this writer is a student and soon-to-be published author (all fingers and toes are crossed) living in reduced circumstances. She is ever hopeful and even though her stomach may rumble from time to time, she is usually somewhat reasonably well fed. Most importantly this writer is a recovering or former New Yorker, (recovering seems more apt), who is quite happily transplanted elsewhere. She blooms where she is planted. ************************ You can contact me at diaryofahopefulstarvingstudent@ gmail.com

"You are delightful."

Rate: 1 Flag

"Don't worry about what Jemma said. She's just not comfortable around babies," Hope says.

Hope holds Isaiah closer as he smiles.

"You are delightful.  You really are," Hope whispers.

Isaiah laughs as Hope swaddles him in his sea foam green blanket and makes sure he's comfortable for their long walk.

Hope loads the fully packed diaper bag below and gets Isaiah settled into his Silver Cross pram, and then grabs Joy's keys before pulling the back door closed.

"We have work to do today, Isaiah, and some very important people to meet.  Oakey dokey, artichokey?" Hope says as she smiles.

Isaiah looks right at Hope and smiles too as they begin their trek into town.

jmac,

Thank you. As always, you are very kind.

I dunno why but the "trek into town" bit made it all very new beginnings-ish, you know: a woman who's been treated unfairly sets off on a righteous crusade with her young son, that kinda thing.

Like Erin Brokovich decided to calm the hell down, and had a baby.
I should stop letting my imagination run away with me, I hope you write the rest of what sounds like a wonderful story (though it's actually very full and contained in itself too). Very nice.
icyhighs,

Thank you for that hilarious comment. It's lovely to see you visit here.

You are right on target as far as the new beginnings, but the baby is not hers. Joy's character has the delightful son, named Isaiah.

As for Hope's character, that would be a good way to describe her. When necessary, she is a bit feisty in order to protect those who need it.
