Isaiah and Hope are still consumed with laughing together. Completely unaware of nearly all else, Hope turns the corner outside of the nursery, and Matthew runs right into them.
Ready or not, there is no escaping Hope.
Somehow Matthew ends up all tangled up in them. He breathes in the scent of Isaiah's baby powder, and then as he barely grazes the top of Hope's head he catches the scent of fresh lavender.
Any resolve that Matthew tried to shore up is gone in an instant. Just like that.
It is all he can do to let go of Hope once they are they are that close to one another again.
Hope looks up at Matthew, catches the look in his eyes for just a moment, and she looks away, blushing now.
Then Hope takes a deep breath and holds Isaiah closer to steady herself.
