While this could be complete BS about it being in the newspaper, I don't know. I got this in my email and you know all to well about that stuff.
While I don't know if it's true I do have to put my stamp of approval on it and would support it if someone in Congress tried to pass it.
This was an article from the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper on Sunday. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?" This article was one of the ideas submitted...
Dear Mr. President,
Patriotic retirement:
There's about 40 million people over 50 in the work force - pay them $1 million apiece severance with the following stipulations:
1) They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings -Unemployment fixed.
2) They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.
3) They either buy a house/pay off their mortgage -
Housing Crisis fixed.
Can't get any easier than that!

Unfortunately this is money not loaves and fishes.
You also wouldn't have to do it to 40 million. If you just did 10 million the other 30 would be swallowed up by the expanded workforce need to make the stuff 10 million new millionaires want.
Gramps, we did do something short of this. It was LBJ and his great plans. The problem is that we gave out money in such small amounts that people we just hanging on.
It's kind of like fixing your car. Instead of going all out and buying a new car you fix this little part and then another little part. Before long you may have spend enough money to buy a new car, but all you have is the same old junker with a lot of new parts.
