It is simply a good news story. Scrub is a seven year old cat. For five years, since Hurricane Katrina struck, Scrub has been missing. With the help of a small implanted microchip, Scrub is reunited with his human family:
"... "This is the power of microchipping," humane society Director Tara High told the Sun Herald. "There is no other way that cat would have found its family. This is a very dramatic story with a wonderful ending."
Scrub was about two years old when he disappeared, Noble said, and he got away because the post-Katrina heat and lack of electricity forced the family to leave all of their doors and windows open."
This is the veterinary argument that pets should have an identification chip. The implanted microchip is about the size of a grain of rice. The perspective of some pet owners is the identification is not necessary because the pet is never out of the home or is closely watched. Nevertheless, the unforeseen happens and pets do escape. Scrub is an example. It seems that he has used his 'nine lives' very well.
