- Bio
- I run a household that resembles the old United Colors of Benetton ads! I am the mother to five beautiful sons, some I gave birth to, others were adopted.
I'm new to the wonderful world of blogging, but find it to be a great way to find both comfort and escape.
I love to camp, take road trips with the boys and ride on the back of a motorcycle.

When Sallie Left
Everyone who has ever adopted a child has their own reasons for doing so. Mine is the result of losing my beloved adoptive mom, suddenly, in an automobile accident more than thirteen years ago. The death of a loved one often brings about unexpected changes, and for me, this was especially/… Read full post »
The Not So Happy Camper
Camping is not one of my favorite activities. It doesn’t make my top ten list, nor my top twenty-five, for that matter. I could probably write a book about camping fiascos, and, were this household made up of girls, I’m sure we’d have thrown in the towel long ago.&n… Read full post »
The Homeless Collector
Growing up, my Daddy had a habit that both annoyed and embarrassed me. He brought home strays…lots of them…but not a single one walked on four legs. They weren’t canines. They were humans.
He found them everywhere…hitchhiking on the highway, hanging… Read full post »
To outsiders, we may not look like the typical American family. We often get stared at in public. It used to bother me at first, but I hardly notice it anymore. On the other hand, it’s more difficult to ignore comments. Once, when the little ones were just infants, we we… Read full post »
Texanna: Elderly Playmate
This isn't a story about Hugh Hefner's first girlfriend. Sorry. In fact, it has nothing at all to do with bushy tails and bunny ears. Instead, its about one my first friendships as a little girl, a friendship, howbeit unusual, but a real one nontheless.
When I was around three years… Read full post »
Losing Josh
Josh was less than two days old when they brought him into our home. Although they told us over the phone that he was black, his skin was much lighter than my pale white flesh. Coming into the world weighing over ten pounds, he was by far the largest newborn that I'd&n… Read full post »
Bye Polar Abduction
When the evil disease of Bi-Polar disorder abducts your child, there's no media fanfare or Amber Alert. Ironically, one of our favorite nursery rhymes when my son was young was Humpty Dumpty. We never knew that he'd grow up to have a great fall of his own. Forget even trying t… Read full post »
