Some may claim I'm in the throes of a midlife crisis. If so, I intend to make the best of it. Plus, being in middle life means I'm heading for a life span somewhere in the range of a century and a half. Cool beans. Meanwhile, the muse whispers, teases, convinces me that I may actually have something to say. Do I? You decide. ************************************* As promised in a recent posting, I have finally modified my avatar. Remembering a Sister

Rate: 3 Flag

   NanMeKassidy092009

My sister, me, our grandniece (our older brother's granddaughter.)  September, 2009

We lost my sister over the weekend.  She would have been 59 in a few days.

She was always there for me when I needed a shoulder to lean on.

 I miss her.

I lost my sister when she turned 40. There is not one day I do not think of her.
My heart goes out to you.

Thank you once again, Linda. It's been said that the hardest part of things like this is for the living to keep moving forward. I shall do that as best I can.
I lost my brother two years ago - he was 56. I understand your pain. Losing a sibling is so incredibly difficult. My prayers go out to you and your family.
I appreciate the kind words, Rita. Thank you. My biggest concern right now are the grandchildren, all of whom were close to my sister.
One of my favorite songs is Jackson Browne's "For a dancer"
which touches on this said topic. I live overseas and cannot link it from here, but if you are not familiar with it please listen on the web.
Hope you are holding up.

Out on a Limb: thank you for the song suggestion. I listened to it while composing this reply. "One dance you'll do alone," indeed. I made it through the funeral yesterday OK. Now comes the challenge of moving forward.
I am sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you are going through....
