White House spokesman Jay Carney (no relation to Art Carney of "the honeymooners") has told the press that Israel’s confrontation with Iran over nukes is likely to mean higher oil prices for Americans. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/theoval/post/2012/02/obama-team-bracing-for-israel-attack-on-iran/1
I’m against higher gasoline prices. But it turns out that I’m also against Israel getting “incinerated” or “erased off the map” like Ahmadinejad has so often promised. Oh my - how to choose?
Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall, as the Obama administration presses Israel to “be reasonable”. I’m sure the talking points are something along the lines of
1. Iran has consistently maintained - with a straight face - that their nukes are for peaceful purposes only –
2. Sanctions may work in another 5 or 10 years, if we give them a chance
3. Look at Pakistan – they have the bomb, and they haven’t nuked India so far . . .
Persuasive points, all of them . . .
The most important reason, however, is the one that remains unsaid. A war between Israel and Iran would probably diminish Obama’s re-election hopes. (see the link, above). The sight of American made F16’s streaking across the Iranian sky to drop bombs on Iran's holy mountain of Doom, er Qom, where the nuke assembly line is buried, would remind islamofascists everywhere that America remains aligned with the allah-denying apostates who want to preserve Israel as a nation. Experts predict that - in the event of a war between Israel and Iran - that American flag burnings in the middle east could rise as much as 23%, and the popularity of Apple products, Google, and Facebook might suffer. Doesn't Israel realize Facebook is trying to have an IPO, and make its founders part of the 1% ???? And that Mitt Romney, as a Mormon, is even MORE likely to align with muslims who also like to have more than one wife at a time? (See picture above, for example)
This could be worse even than the firestorm over those Danish cartoons depicting Muhammad in a bear suit.
When confronted with a turning point in history, the choices are never clear. Which is “better” . . . . standing up for democracy and human rights, or appeasement of dictators? You can never be completely sure, in this brave new world of moral relativism. Fascists and opressors might have every bit as much right to pursue their dreams as the rest of us . . .
Let’s just be thankful that Hitler wasn’t in control of half the world’s crude oil, otherwise we might never have entered world war 2; higher prices at the pump would have deterred us, because THOSE were economic hard times too, you know.
Wait – my bad. Let's think this through. If FDR hadn't got his way, and the US sat out World War 2, there’s be no Jewish survivors to found Israel, and we wouldn't even be having this conversation.
Wow – morality is tough.

so sorry to hear the "G" (google) key is missing on your PC. As you noted, these remarks are "all over the place", including wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahmoud_Ahmadinejad_and_Israel
additionally, at that link, you can find examples of where Ahmadinejad refers to jews. and he promises that all nations that recognized Israel "will burn in the first of hell"
Israel has found several wars, and not "wiped anybody off the map", so your concerns are anti-semitic hyperbole. until the islamists took control of the egyptian government, there was a peace treaty in effect, even.
I hope this information has been useful to you, and i hope iran does not send your family and mine to "burn in the first of hell" because the rest of the world recognizes israel.
have a nice day :)
I love that - so we've got Hitler, anti-Semitism, all we need now is a couple of Mussolini clips to back this all up, and Iran is toast. I smell genocide cooking! Too bad about all those Iranian kids, though, but as Himmler used to say back in the days, get 'em while they're young.
The people in the know in the DOD have a saying about bombing Iran. Don't forget to bring your lunch. In other words, unless people are willing to commit hundreds of thousands of troops on the ground, forget about surgical strikes solving all of our problems with Tehran.
