Wim Wender's 3D-film,"Pina",
his "l'homage" for Pina Bausch,
had been nominated for an Oscar.
The film,a documentary about
the choreographer Pina Bausch,
was not among the winners.
Too little is known about this outstanding artist,
who with her approach changed the whole dance theatre into something
entirely new.
With her life work,Pina Bausch has written history.

Wim Wenders did not get the Oscar this year, which I think is a pity.
Pina Bausch died in 1999,and her death set everyone under shock. She had been working on the project for the film together with Wim Wenders. Her sudden death put a temporary stop to the production of the film. After a year or so,Wim decided to complete the film without Pina in honoration of her magnificent, revolutionary attempt at giving dance theatre a totally new face.
Her choreographic work is based on her visionary, inner dialogue with each single, physical expression of emotion, bringing this in her artists to absolute perfection. Some of her dancers have worked with and for her for more than 35 years.
Wim Wenders has captured this excellence of dance performance in his documentary film, and the time will come when perhaps in a few years he will be honoured for his/her opus magnum with an Oscar.
One of the links shows the performance of Orphee et Euridice in Paris, for which Pina Bausch received highest respect. She said in the interview during intermission that she feels honoured to have been offered this opportunity.
I'm, as always, slow on managing to open links but look forward to what I'll find when I finally succeed. Dance has always been a specially favorite interest of mine.

btw: "Orphee" doesn't work.
thank you for your comment.I have seen Orphee several times;I have also sent this post to Wim Wenders. On the way through web, someone decided to put a stop to it.
If you care for this performance, which I am sure you will, as it was excellent, deeply moving, the DVD would be worth it.I have to find out who blocked it.

your artwork as always is very enjoyable.
If you manage to dance like Pina instructed, you could join her company in Wuppertal.
I actually believe that you could be a great dancer.
Art uses the same language in every medium.
I am amazed at your creativity.Have a good week in designing your monuments.I have listened to the news, and it sounded scary.
You are a person who makes all the difference, and I honestly hope you will through your peaceful meditations.

Thanks for visiting.I feel honoured by your comment.
W.W.deserves an Oscar, not only for this ,but what he has done here is outstanding.I guess it is because of his agony over losing Pina Bausch that enabled him to try for the utmost possible to set a monumental landmark for her. There are dance theatres today who are in her tradition.I wonder if they remember and honour her breaking, singular pilot project.

Have you taken a look at any of the videos?
"Orpheo & Euridice" is one of my favourites, and to see it in Pina Bausch choreography is entertainment of superlativ comparison.
If only you could see at least one of the videos.
Pina Bausch was a shy, humble person and her choreography carries her imprint. Each emotion expressed in body motion has been brought to absolute perfection. Each single person is a delight to look at in motion, and the whole body of performers (several people expressing mourning) is a delight to the eye and to the observer's emotion.Wim Wenders ,in an interview stated that when he saw Pina Bausch's Dance Theatre in action,he was mesmerized, and that was the time when he started working with her in order to document her opus magnum in a 3D film. Pina Bausch died during the castings, and it was one year after her death that W.W. and the whole ensemble decided to complete the film as a tribute to Pina Bausch.
I have seen "Wings of Desire" as a trailer only, but like you,I am a fan of Wim Wenders.I have read articles about him and have seen him in interviews.
He and Pina were a perfect match because both worked with silence and expression up to the point of ultimate perfection.
I would like to see all of his films, but definitely Wim Wenders' film as tribute to Pina Bausch,
"Pina".
