Life Beyond justUS

a non-militant, anti-terrorUSt$ perspective

US delivered Taliban and Ahmadinejad to us

Rate: 1 Flag

US delivered Taliban and Ahmadinejad to us as presents of anti-Marxist fanaticism.

Much the same anti-communists propaganda/paranoia results as what is now in Iran can be observed in Afghanistan where, beginning in 1979 toward the end of Carter's administration, the CIA and National Security Advisor, Zbigniew Brzezinski encouraged and facilitated the overthrow the secular Afghan government by Islamic fundamentalist.

The Afghan government which Brzezinski et. al wanted to eliminate because it was friendly with its neighbor, the Soviet Union, had within it such individuals as Anahita Ratebzad,  a major Marxist leader and a member of the Revolutionary Council.

Ratebzad wrote the famous May 28, 1978 New Kabul Times editorial, which declared: "Privileges which women, by right, must have are equal education, job security, health services, and free time to rear a healthy generation for building the future of the country ... Educating and enlightening women is now the subject of close government attention."

Obviously, there are a powerful interests in the United States who could care less about human rights, about what good is possible in life that could evolve outside an omnipotent sphere of corporatist capitalism. Their rule of thumb is:
"If it, whatever it is, whether a group of similarly minded people down the street, a government, another nation, a society, a President, a regulatory policy, whatever it is that threatens our lifestyle and freedom from accountability, even if we don't have truth to back up our suspicions and we only perceive that it has the potential to threaten our way of life, we must eliminate it. "

Thanks for the post.
There's nothing about Ahmedinejad here. About the Taliban you're right - the US supported it in order to undermine the Soviet Union in Afghanistan.
kS "There's nothing about Ahmedinejad here."

True, however, I not too briefly addressed Iran in this regard in OS post "The Art of Controlling the U.S. Presidency" 16June2010 1037p

That's why above I began the post with: "Much the same anti-communists propaganda/paranoia results as what is now in Iran ..." except i overlooked linking "the same". Will edit for that, thanks.
it's interesting that american foreign policy has generated some real blots on the face of humanity: the kmer rouge was just a few nut cases drinking tea and quoting mao until nixon started carpet bombing cambodia, suddenly they were the only ones who had been warning about america...

america subsidizes the northern alliance, chucks out the ussr, and allows the n.a. to heavy the nation, up pops the talib'an...

of course, the current regime in iran is the reaction to america's notably crooked and brutal puppet government.

for that matter, the viet cong grew out of america's backing of the vichy french in viet nam.

modern american foreign policy is nothing if not amoral, and hopelessly incompetent.

i fully agree with your abbreviated outline, except for

your "modern american foreign policy is nothing if not amoral, and hopelessly incompetent"

U.S. foreign policy is remarkably competent at being fundamentally immoral not just in the present, but historically even more so.
The expression "you break it you own it" is an axiom quoted in U.S. foreign policy circles. U.S. terrorUSt$ are masters of breaking other nations and peoples, however, such breakage never results in truly owning such nations because that would entail the responsibility of caring for such nations' peoples when terrorUSt$ don't give a damn about anything but the acquisition and concentration of capital. The historical modus operandi of terrorUSt$ is to break, then (through what passes for 'ownership' ) control and exploit when profitable, otherwise just abandon, sanction and/or righteoUSly relegate to sub-human classifications.

Ronald Reagan's clique of war criminals --Bush 1, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Kissinger, Reich, Abrams, Negroponte, Lehman, Haig, Perle, Armitage, Wolfowitz, , under the cultish influence of their shared anti-communist psychoses, did not just break Afghanistan as they broke other peoples with their proxied genocides in Latin American and African countries: they are the prime instruments for effectively having shoved (a polite term for murdered and decimated) Afghanistan back to the first millennium.

The United States definitely owes Afghanistan but it is an impossible debt to repay, no less so than the U.S. national debt which itself is significantly built on loans to fund 'wars' and conflicts such as what helped lay waste to Afghanistan.
American media for some reason can only write or say the word "Zionist" when the word is quoted as having been said by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

But when media analyses are presented, reporters/pundits invariably use the word "Israel" as 'a perfectly good substitute' for the word Zionist. All the while knowing, or should know that the word "Israel" is never used by President Ahmahdinejad to name, to recognize, to suggest legitimacy of the Zionist amoeba in Palestine that few to no westerners can let themselves call it what it is: " a militarist, colonialist, Zionist theocracy" smack in the middle of, increasingly the fundamental cause of, more than four score years of death and destruction in the Middle East. Meanwhile Netanyahu is fired up to make it five score years and more.

The militarist, oppressing creature in Palestine is not Israel ... its Zionism. At least that's the way anti-Zionist see it. Israel is just a name. Zionism is a weapon, an apartheid ideology that became inherently without a conscience once it escaped from Theodor Herzl's works, got twisted, armed, aimed at Palestine and funded, armed with nukes, funded , armed, funded, ... by the West's Zionists.
