Psalm 31

Women throughout history
have served
the body of Christ
uplifting and strengthening
those around them.
Worker bees
whose honey
drips indiscriminately
on all.
In his letters,
Paul commends Phoebe,
asking others to welcome her
"as fitly as the saints."1
On another mission,
Paul describes a gathering
of women with whom
he preached.
Lydia was converted.
She offered her house to them.2
Spreading the good news
Paul's' mission continued.
The foundation of the church
was built on small beginnings.
This time at Nympha's house.3
Opening up their homes
they opened up themselves to serve.
Where there is food being served,
there will always be women.
Last night at church,
another event ran smoothly
because of women.
One decorated and wrote three skits.
Many organized the youth.
They were the last to eat.
Women are the quiet strength
that is the glue
that holds together
families, communities, churches
and governments.
I commend these women
who continue to serve
barely noticed.
Except by God.
Thank you.
1Romans 16:1.I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deacon of the church at Cenchreae, 2.so that you may welcome her in the Lord as is fitting for the saints, and help her in whatever she may require from you, for she has been a benefactor of many and of myself as well. 3.Greet Prisca and Aquila, who work with me in Christ Jesus, 4.and who risked their necks for my life, to whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles. 5.Greet also the church in their house. Greet my belovedEpaenetus, who was the first convert in Asia for Christ. 6.Greet Mary, who has worked very hard among you.
2Acts 16:14.A certain woman named Lydia, a worshiper of God, was listening to us; she was from the city of Thyatira and a dealer in purple cloth. The Lord opened her heart to listen eagerly to what was said by Paul. 15.When she and her household were baptized, she urged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come and stay at my home." And she prevailed upon us.
3Colossians 4: 15.Give my greetings to the brothers and sisters in Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in her house.
