This blog is about the journey from here to there. Early posts have devotional poetry and prose with scripture included. Many deal with the difficulty of having people in my life who are living with cancer and have died from cancer. Now I'm focusing on going back to college in my 50's and discovering a new path to direct my art--which is art therapy. _________________________________________ All of the artwork I created unless otherwise noted. The Imagination of the Heart

Psalm 29
christspreadillus

By surprise
the shepherds in the fields
were visited by an angel.
So bright was the light
the glory of God shone
all around them.

First terror struck,
then in assuring tones
the angel said,"Do not be afraid".
When the angel was joined
by a heavenly host,
imagine the brilliance!
The shepherds could
not deny the good news
they were proclaiming.1

King Herod's wise men
did not question the
scientific relevance
that a rising star
would stop.
It was a spotlight on
the Chosen Child.2

Jeremiah a prophet
who thought with his heart,
was warned by God
of false prophets.
They spoke lies with
the deceit of their own minds.3
When God spoke peace
they spoke famine.
When God warned
destruction they did not hear.
Their minds were focused on
the confines of themselves
rather than being
open to something greater.

Ezekiel was a supernatural
visionary.
His visions were both
frightening and fascinating.
He warned of destruction
and described otherworldly
images that he had no
experience or vocabulary
to do so.4
And yet, somehow he was able
to take it all in and share
it, having had a mind wide open.

Early in the morning
Jesus was dying on the cross.
People around him mocked him.
Accusing him of saying things he didn't say.
He spoke in parables.
They took it literally.
At noon, darkness came over the land;
for three hours it stayed dark.
And yet the bystanders
were still waiting for a sign.5

Though there are signs
in the creation of the world,
His eternal power
and divine nature,
some still do not believe
in the existence of God.6

Oh everlasting Love,
Open the mind of our hearts
and the heart of our minds.
Oh Divine Imagination,
spark ours, so that
we may envision
the possibility of something more.
Help us to comprehend
the depth and breadth of You!7

Luke 2:8.In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9.Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10.But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for see?I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: 11.to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord. 12.This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger." 13.And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying, 14."Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors!" 15.When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let us go now to Bethlehem and see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us."

2Matthew 2:9.When they had heard the king, they set out; and there, ahead of them, went the star that they had seen at its rising, until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10.When they saw that the star had stopped, they were overwhelmed with joy. 11.On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

3Jeremiah 14:13.Then I said: "Ah, Lord God! Here are the prophets saying to them, "You shall not see the sword, nor shall you have famine, but I will give you true peace in this place.' " 14.And the Lord said to me: The prophets are prophesying lies in my name; I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a lying vision, worthless divination, and the deceit of their own minds.

4Ezekiel 10:14.Each one had four faces: the first face was that of the cherub, the second face was that of a human being, the third that of a lion, and the fourth that of an eagle. 15.The cherubim rose up. These were the living creatures that I saw by the river Chebar. 16.
When the cherubim moved, the wheels moved beside them; and when the cherubim lifted up their wings to rise up from the earth, the wheels at their side did not veer. 17.When they stopped, the others stopped, and when they rose up, the others rose up with them; for the spirit of the living creatures was in them. 18.Then the glory of the Lord went out from the threshold of the house and stopped above the cherubim. 19.The cherubim lifted up their wings and rose up from the earth in my sight as they went out with the wheels beside them. They stopped at the entrance of the east gate of the house of the Lord; and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.

5Matthew 15:25.It was nine o'clock in the morning when they crucified him. 26.The inscription of the charge against him read, "The King of the Jews." 27.And with him they crucified two bandits, one on his right and one on his left. 28. 29.
Those who passed by derided him, shaking their heads and saying, "Aha! You who would destroy the temple and build it in three days, 30.save yourself, and come down from the cross!" 31.In the same way the chief priests, along with the scribes, were also mocking him among themselves and saying, "He saved others; he cannot save himself. 32.Let the Messiah, the King of Israel, come down from the cross now, so that we may see and believe." Those who were crucified with him also taunted him. 33.When it was noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon.

6Romans 1: 19.For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20.Ever since the creation of the world his eternal power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been understood and seen through the things he has made. So they are without excuse; 21.for though they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their senseless minds were darkened.

7Ephesians 3:16.I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, 17.and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. 18.I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19.and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

I did late last night and then could find it--I hadn't put any tags in,,,Have a blessed day!
If we could but open our hearts, perhaps we would see the signs.
AtHome, Yes, I know people say it all the time and love is used all the time like, "I love that cake!" And so just like a good art work is minimallized by the over production of it in poster form, the true nature of love gets lost. But I will keep saying it in different ways until I find a better way do express the urgency of the matter.
Dear Anne -- how beautiful -- thanks or doing this. The combination of the word and visionary art in your posts is inspiring!

You know Jali, I think the reason I sort of use the paradoxical statement of using the mind of your heart, is that while we may know our comfort zones, it may not get us where we need to go. I also think we have expectations of outcome which can be dangerous if we "follow our heart" and then don't get what we thought we'd get. That's why it's important to me to always talk to God and ask if this is the direction I need to go, because I learned that if I try to take control, I'm probably going to make it harder on myself and not get the desires of my heart--whatever they may be. I think the heart is a journey as in our consciousness to the greater whole, ever peeling away the onion skin to reveal a little more truth.
Carol- thank you so much and thank you for stopping by. I always encourage comments, honest caring critiques and exchange of ideas.
Lovely, Anne! With "mind wide open" and through my heart, of course!!
Julieshanti thanks for stopping by at one of my earlier posts. Always great to see your shining light!
