Psalm 25
His Holiness the late
Pope John Paul II asked for
forgiveness for past sins.
I ask as a Christian
for forgiveness for
what we continue to do.
Though like the author
of Maccabees1
I feel unequal to the task,
I am striving to make
a sacrifice acceptable to God.2
For He will repay us for each of our deeds.3
There is no one who is righteous
not even one.4
Even in trying to do right we do wrong.
Please Lord, forgive us,
For we are blinded by are own deeds
and move out of our placement.5
Should one who is meant
to be a tailor practice surgery?
Should one who is meant
to be a dentist sing an opera?
When kindness should be given,
we use force.
When openness is needed,
we shut the door and lock it.
Do Christians really know Christ?
Sarai, Abram's wife,
being full of God's presence,
saved her husband's
life just by her beauty.6
If we were truly in You
and You in us,
we could save lives, too.
Drive us to do better, Lord.
Take the wheel,
my God, and prevent us
from crashing and hurting others.
If we use your name, Jesus
but do the opposite of what you taught,
the rippling effect is disastrous.
Oh Lord,
what are human beings
that you are mindful of them?7
You have given us this creation
of yours to watch over?
In Your mercy God,
still the rippled water of our transgressions.
Send out new servants whose
unity with You is
unquestionable.
Help us to recover
the goodness on earth!

7 Psalm 8: 1.O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.2.Out of the mouths of babes and infants you have founded a bulwark because of your foes, to silence the enemy and the avenger.3.When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established;4.what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?5.Yet you have made them a little lower than God, and crowned them with glory and honor.6.You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet,7.all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field,8.the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.9.O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
