Psalm 24

David, a man after God's own heart
and a mighty king,
had many triumphs.
Still, he was human and
made mistakes.
God directed him in battle
whether to fight or retreat.
David gained respect, wealth and power.
When He did not do what God asked,
He and his people suffered dearly.
Though he repented,
his actions reaped consequences.*
The Pharisees and scribes
held self-appointed high positions.
Jesus denounced them as
devourers of widows houses.**
Though she had nothing
the widow gave all she had,
finding favor with God.
On the third day,
after Jesus' suffering on the cross,
He appeared to His disciples.
He opened their minds
to understand the scriptures of old
had been fulfilled in the new.***
Oh Lord, with grace
comes responsibility,
with responsibility
comes privilege,
with privilege comes
accountability.
Great rewards come with a price.****
Clear me of hidden faults*****
Wipe my slate clean, lest I stumble.
Gratitude abound in my abundance!
May I never take your beauty
or generosity for granted!
I pray that I stay humble before You,
so that I will find favor as You
passover.
I renew my covenant
with you my God
with all my heart, mind , soul and body.

You are the Lamb that set me free!
*2Samuel 23:14.David was then in the stronghold; and the garrison of the Philistines was then at Bethlehem. 15.David said longingly, "O that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem that is by the gate!" 16.Then the three warriors broke through the camp of the Philistines, drew water from the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate, and brought it to David. But he would not drink of it; he poured it out to the Lord, 17.for he said, "The Lord forbid that I should do this. Can I drink the blood of the men who went at the risk of their lives?" Therefore he would not drink it. The three warriors did these things.
2Samuel 24-10.But afterward, David was stricken to the heart because he had numbered the people. David said to the Lord, "I have sinned greatly in what I have done. But now, O Lord, I pray you, take away the guilt of your servant; for I have done very foolishly." 11.When David rose in the morning, the word of the Lord came to the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying, 12.
"Go and say to David: Thus says the Lord: Three things I offer you; choose one of them, and I will do it to you." 13.
So Gad came to David and told him; he asked him, "Shall three years of famine come to you on your land? Or will you flee three months before your foes while they pursue you? Or shall there be three days' pestilence in your land? Now consider, and decide what answer I shall return to the one who sent me." 14.Then David said to Gad, "I am in great distress; let us fall into the hand of the Lord, for his mercy is great; but let me not fall into human hands."

David himself, by the Holy Spirit, declared, "The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet." 37.David himself calls him Lord; so how can he be his son?" And the large crowd was listening to him with delight. 38.As he taught, he said, "Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces,39.and to have the best seats in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets!40.They devour widows' houses and for the sake of appearance say long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation."41.He sat down opposite the treasury, and watched the crowd putting money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. 42.A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny. 43.Then he called his disciples and said to them, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. 44.For all of them have contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on."
***Luke 24:44.Then he said to them, "These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you?that everything written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms must be fulfilled." 45.Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, 46.

and he said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, 47.and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48.You are witnesses of these things. 49.
And see, I am sending upon you what my Father promised; so stay here in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."

the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction, 23.since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;24 they are now justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25.
whom God put forward as a sacrifice of atonement by his blood, effective through faith. He did this to show his righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over the sins previously committed; 26.it was to prove at the present time that he himself is righteous and that he justifies the one who has faith in Jesus.
