Psalm 11
How shall I remove this
noose around my heart?
Lies try to overcome me
and those around me.
"Love them" You say,
My God you say
"Love them".
Whispers in church from
the ones in fine clothing*
spread contempt.
They who do not know me
think the worst.
Lord all you say is,
"Love them".
When snickers and sneers
and glances of disdain,
come to me like arrows;
I shall meet them with Your Light.
How great is a forest set ablaze by a small fire!**
Can no one tame the tongue of evil,
once it starts?
My God, You keep chanting the
same refrain;
"Love them",
when my first reaction is to
coil into a ball!
You must help me oh Lord.
Help me to defeat the
"Father of Lies".
Let not evil take me
so that I lash out with bitterness.***
Prince of Peace reign,
rain on me!
Purify me oh Lord,
so that your peace be a shield
from my adversaries.
Let me face it with joy and faith
knowing with confidence that with You,
I will lack nothing.****
Drive away any doubt, my God.
Fill me with the Holy Spirit,
perfect and eager to be
feasted upon
in all it's splendor!
For Your love conquers
all remorse!
Your love , my Father
soothes the aching
soul!
Your love will fill me up to
overflowing.
No longer will you have to tell me
to "Love them".
Your Love will radiate beyond
me and I am a willing
vessel!
I am free in the comfort of You!
*James 2-2.For if a person with gold rings and in fine clothes comes into your assembly, and if a poor person in dirty clothes also comes in, 3.and if you take notice of the one wearing the fine clothes and say, "Have a seat here, please, while to the one who is poor you say, "Stand there," or, "Sit at my feet,"4.have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?
** James 3-5.So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great exploits. How great a forest is set ablaze by a small fire!6.And the tongue is a fire. The tongue is placed among our members as a world of iniquity; it stains the whole body, sets on fire the cycle of nature, and is itself set on fire by hell. 7.For every species of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by the human species, 8.but no one can tame the tongue? a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9.With it we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse those who are made in the likeness of God. 10.From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this ought not to be so.
***James 3- 14.But if you have bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not be boastful and false to the truth.15.Such wisdom does not come down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, devilish.16.For where there is envy and selfish ambition, there will also be disorder and wickedness of every kind.17.But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy.18. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace for those who make peace.
****James 1- 2.My brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of any kind, consider it nothing but joy, 3.because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance;4.and let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking in nothing. 5.If any of you is lacking in wisdom, ask God, who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given you. 6.But ask in faith, never doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind;
