Hi all. My name is Ben Railton, and I'm a professor of American literature and Studies at Fitchburg State University in Massachusetts. I've begun a daily blog where I post a mini-essay on one interesting American thing (event, text, controversy, figure, etc) that I think should be better remembered or known, and am just looking for ways to connect it with more engaged and intelligent readers (and thus get more feedback and conversation as well).

 So that's what this space is going to be. I'll just post the daily title and a very brief statement of the focus here (in a sec I'll post the full list of posts to this point, since it's only about a week's worth), and the link to the blog itself.
