I had several people at the Y tell me that starting my weight loss is pointless during the holidays.
How wrong were they! I have been to 3 holiday parties this week and have stuck to my guns. I feel more empowered now than if I had waited to start after a two week binge fest.
The most amazing thing is how good I feel only eating one plate at each meal. I thought I'd feel deprived not having seconds, but there is a freedom is just taking my time to eat one serving. And it hasn't had an effect on nursing my 7 month old daughter. (The only caveat to my weight loss journey is being able to nurse her.)
Oddly enough, working out 45 min a day has been energizing. I am sleeping better, even though my little one still wakes up once a night. I even have more patience at 3/4/5 am when she decides to nurse or needs a bit of comfort rocking to go back to sleep. Maybe even starting to enjoy night time parenting? No, I don't want to say that.
So I wondered, is it better to decide your New Year's resolution before Christmas and take it through a test drive during the holidays? If you can hack it, or at least tolerate the change during a stressful busy season, surely it would be feasible during the doldrums of winter.
And the best part about starting early...I have already lost two pounds!
Merry Christmas! I know I won't be going crazy this year, but enjoy yourself!
